What often baffles me is why, in a relatively small field like G scale, manufacturers choose to release a model of a loco already covered (for many years and in many versions) by another well-established producer. OK, I know the KISS stuff is supposed to be very good, and this may well be a more accurate model than the LGB ones, but surely they would have better sales if they chose something that hasn't been modelled in the scale before?

Just my opinion, YMMV of course.....

Jon.

I agree - but if they want to do RhB models, then there's not much left that hasn't been done really, just Kofs and shunters.

However - want one! Although I'd settle for an LGB Croc, which no doubt would be a lot cheaper!

Choices , choices. Do I stick with LGB or go Kiss. Seeing that I didn't win the lottery ,I won't be spending euro3400 on one

But it is only 2990,- if you order before November 11th this year ;)

I was a little excited when I first read the news about the Croc from Kiss, but unfortunately the versions are in brass and the price for a brass model is too high for me. What's left then is the different colored versions from LGB and they will most likely continue release them.

It is a shame to see duplication in such a small part of the model railway hobby... G scale. It looks lovely, but is it worth 3x (plus) a plastic LGB model? I guess they'll sell though as people I presume collect them as the detail is so lovely :)

Re: New Haven Neil:

They could do the Allegra, but I doubt the price would be much less than the Croc.

Best I can offer,. The tramway cat has since been replaced with protypical RHB

You do that to annoy me, don't you Phil!!!!!!

Loco, I'm afraid I have an aversion to EMU's, nice as they are to ride in, I'm a loco man! Being as I can't afford an LGB Ge 4/4II anyway (a Phil photo of Arosa about to appear, just watch!), a 'Kiss-Me-Kroc' (badoom-tish) isn't likely to venture over here in a hurry!

Wouldn't do that to you Neil.!

I'll stick to my two LGBs

A more upto date picture Don

Personally I feel you cant compare them. The Kiss is a scale model, the LGB isnt and uses standard parts, look at the whhel sizes for example. However, I would never spend what Kiss want.

I do have a GE 66 11 which I do run but it is not as robust as LGB.

I appear to have lost some brake hangers and shoes. Brittle plastic

Aaagh! I see Rails of Sheffield have a round headlight Arosa, but I'm spent up on other things at the moment. No doubt it will go crazy anyway, e bay being what it is....

This Kiss model seems rather flawed to me. You can see over the top of the bonnet straight into the cab. OK, the other detail might be more accurate than LGB but the cheaper Luran-S model is, for the money, great value and that gap would really irritate me.

If you can stretch to it, the Kiss brass stuff is excellent but fragile. I have a G4/5 that where commissioned by Semaphore. It cost me my bonus, but as my wife said "you've worked hard, treat yourself..."

All the niche IIm stuff is pretty fragile, be it Magnus, Kiss, Scheba or Dietz, but if you keep the handling to a minimum and the track is clear and loading gauge is clear, you shouldn't have too many problems

Have been told my my retailer that Kiss have announced that the Krok has been cancelled due to lack of pre-orders....
