Land grab

Nothing quite so prosaic. I was looking for a station nane with Fern in the title in the list of British station names and this came up. Same for Audley End, as I live around the corner from a street called Audley Way As the station was at the end of the line Audley End seemed appropriate!
"Poetic" I think, Dave, rather than prosaic.

Finally got around to painting my coach. I meant to do it when I got it 2 years ago. Looks much better in cream and brown. Not sure of any difference in First and Third class seating.

One if the good things about real railways (and I count 5" ride on as real railways) is that you don't have to worry about weathering, it occurs naturally.

This is why I have been selling off some of my 45 mm gauge collection, so I could buy this:

Another loco from Ride on Railways, a "Trojan" 0-4-0 pretend steam loco, actually 2 x 12 V car battery powered.
Built to order, but a long lead time, over 8 months, but worth waiting for, The family love it. They're calling it "mini Hogwarts Express". Has sound as well, basic chuff synched to the wheels, and whistle.

I want one

The new 0-4-0 "steamer" was put to good use on a charity xmas train ride day today. We managed to find a 2-hour slot when it wasn't raining! £200 raised for UNICEF.

The kids were allowed to drive under strict supervision. The one driving in the picture is a bigger train nut than me! Bit of wheel slip on the 0-4-0 when pulling an adult on board with the kids going up the 1:100 gradient. The Bo-Bo manages this easily, twice the traction of course.

Not sure girl no4 on the train so impressed, but then perhaps she is looking so uninterested cos she is not driving?

Basically yes, she was sulking a bit because I said she had to wait her turn. Glad to say the girls were all as keen to drive as the boys, and in general were better at it! :)
