Look on the bright side - at least it's fixable, which the LGB R3 check rail problem isn't.
Not true. The LGB problem (if indeed you find it a problem in the first place) is permanently fixable with no soldering or electrical expertise - without even lifting the point if you don't want to or cannot easily do so - for a small investment of http://www.modell-werkstatt.de/glei...satz-radlenker-fuer-lgb-weichen-radius-3.html < Link To ?2.70.
That is not the problem I had with 3 LGB R3s.
I my case the moving rail canted inwards and derailed stock or in one instance caused my Saxon to 'do the splits'.

One small point I forgot, if you refit the screws to a Piko point make sure that you don't tighten the screw which acts as a pivot too tightly or stock can't 'run through' the closed rail.

I've had problems with LGB points failing with lose connections. It's just one of those things, it happens. Problems arise, we fix them, problem solved and a bit more experience gained.

I'll leave it to you to cut the old plastic check rail off in situ

Whilst I would love all my kit to be made of gold and stainless steel etc., we do have to remember that we operate fairly fine gear in the hostile environment of the great outdoors. And at the same time ask for cheapness.

I agree but the 3 Piko points failing within 6 months is not at all impressive.

Keith - I agree entirely. The items we buy are advertised as fit for use outside after all. I'll be interested to hear if you get a response from Piko. They've been very quick to respond when I've sent emails to them, but none of mine were complaints!

I will keep you posted.

OK, understood - I take the point ('scuse the pun)

I didn't realise that someone had really taken notice of the problem.

That said, I've developed a pathelogical hatred of those points, and only have one left that leads to a rarely used spur - one, that is out of a total of three on the railway. :rolf::rolf:

been out side, testing, and track laying..
