Wartime measure to do with blackout regulations so as not to give away position to enemy planes. The drivers were fed on large quantities of carrots to help them see in the dark.

I'll accept davied version over the truth any day.. Its a eBay bargain.. Seller sold it as scrap after posting it with no packing at the ends so it was smashed up.. Wheels hanging off.. Lights missing ect.. I managed to rebuild it(its actually sat on foam bord blocks as the wheels are glued to it), it's a scafrifical version. I have a mint example of it as well.. Que David showing two identical busses.. So this ones left out side all summer...

Bit more progress on the Wearhouse,
The brickwork is slowly getting there, life's interrupting the build. No. 1 stepson autism and form filling being the main things.. Building is going to have to be built in situi more or less due to sizes constraints, I'm going to build it on a set base as its a triangle shaped building. 249551249552249553249554249555249556249557249558249559249560249561

New day new loco..

The weather was poo... And I had fun.

Eventually it stoped enough for me to start testing it.. To carry it.. 2 hands on loco at the steel running plate.. This loco weights quite a bit.. The tender has a multiplug conecters which plugs into the loco.. And this makes it a 4 minute job of connecting the lot up.. That said.. Its a fantastic bit of kit.. Possibly marklin best yet?? 249729249730249731249732249733249734249735249736249737249738249739

Looking great Mike. What have Marklin done to get it round sharp corners. Is it like the Rugen or the Harz Bulle.

We had the Brawa one on the Ruschbahn and that used to negotiate LGB R2’s in the Fiddle Yard OK, but very slowly. There were R1’s at the Top Station Gehoelz but that was the exclusive domain of the LGB RHB Railcar and Rack Locomotives. We never tried the 2-8-0 there.

More like the rugens Alan
As far as the instructions go.. Middle wheels are un powered.. Float just like the mighty rugens. Long motor too.. See details 249834249835249836

Interesting that Marklin still don't go for a flywheel in this scale (unless it's hidden in that long motor) :wait:

I asume they feel there is enough weight (at this scale) to supply momentum? - AND, it can be 'added' by tweaking a CV, if you are DCC.. :nerd:

Probably so, but for auntielog users it helps, and assists in reducing wear on the drive train.
