Lazy Grange Bay 3...a new start

is no more..
itsin compnant bits..
boiler bulkheads been cut up, shortend, hole cut in, hole from switch filled
glued up, filled up with millyput..spray black, to match the newly spryed black footplate floor.. hall sensoure has been fitted to the front motor block ready for the xls sound chip,/.

cheers kim, steve, john,..today .. i managed to twist ians arm enought to run away with the mill beam engine, ians worked wonders on a airfix kit, ians used a sacletrix car to power the beam engine,, built a base to hold, it, bricked it up, york stone flags on top, bolted it down, ect ..supred is not a understatement.. now i have to try and build a engine house worthy of it.. cheesr ian..

also maanged to bugger up ians afternoon by talking him into sprying the meyers..hes got a lighter touch than me.. well thats whastr the ladys say so..

work in progress.. needs transferes, plates ect coal load ect.. and satin varnish.. so i can varnish the cylinders.. but nothing elase, awaiting the nod, from mates in the know, who know about these things, and stuff.. but what i can do, is chip the chassey, rebuild the motor blocks, fit the valve gear ,set the timeing/qwuarting, ect, fit the bulked boilerplate, detail it, add the flickering firebox, exten the floor, and do a wooden cab floor..so stuff i can do ..already drilled the hole for the speaker, and sorced a mesh grill to cover said hole..

today was spent runnnig next door to a+e..she had a bad fall .. and the after noon curseing ian s..:rolf::rolf: he was right again.. so the chassey was striped, wheels off, valve gear striped off ect..and the lot was sprayed in humbrol crimson satin, acrillic spry
with A COAT of satin acrillic varnis to seal it.. mesh was fitted over the hole, haveing been spry the boddy colour to match, a custon baffle was made, and the speaker fitted ,after i had reasembled the two ,motor blocks, valvce gear and running plsates ect
still loads to do.. but progressis being made

You want to watch those little sprinkles on the ice cream, Mike - a bloke once died from too many of them, the inquest decided he'd topped himself.....

(Hat, coat, door etc....)

On more serious things, nice job so far on the Meyer - is that the final body colour? If so it'll look really different from the usual black or bright green ones.

Jon.

thanks barry ,aprecate it mate.. hi jon, the sprinkles are from next door, shes hideing the strawberrys under the icecream..lol ta.. hoefully, the varnis will lift the colour, itsa bit pale at the mo.. but the cylinders have had a few satin coat on ,of varsis.. and look good.. worst case.. i do it again!!:rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:relisticly. changeing colours a day and £14.00.. so its no biggy

Hmmm...............so you need an ice cream break ? It certainly looks a lot prettier than the ice cream treats I make for myself. I'm jealous.

did a bit more, got the flickering fire box done, built a foambord box for the massoth unit to sit in, lined it with tin foil.. works a treat.. statrted on the boddy today ,cut of the wooded planked extensiion and made up the new coal bunker covers , added hindges and handles from copper wire,.. made up a new safty valve from brass tube, and plastic tueb, madea new steam vale cover, removed the valves off the large steam dome, mamnged to salvage on for the fr=ont, and got a start on makeing up the missing pipe work from the back/
happywith theresults.. it passed the smile test ..

Looks good there both of you...how ever the anti-shake had me worried for a minute thought the upright was on the move, then the cross beam was flexing but all ok in the end:thumbup:

Looking very impressive Mike.
Have you got room for a second boiler?
I think there were often more boilers than engines, probably to permit continued production during boiler washouts or other routine maintenance.

ah yes but no,but yes neil.. the second boiler, and a host of other stuff, is in the half of the boiler house i carnt fit in, ,as im doing a cut a way section of the boiler /engine house.
