New Bachmann Lyn

Sorry to resurrect this topic, as it were, but just acquired a the 91199 version in Lined Green, must say it really is a superb model, but I have a few questions.
First of all the little card tag on the smokebox door, bit of a silly question, but do I just pull, cut or remove the builders plate to get it off? (Just though I'd ask so I don't break anything)
Second, can the smoke box door be easily removed? I've seen many people replace the US style door with the UK version and would possibly like to do so myself. I've had a little look, and it seems the door panel slides off, though the switches all seem to be connected to it. I didn't want to pull any of the wires, so put it back on.
Any help would be great appreciated :)

I can't remember the tag on mine, but I think the builder's plate is attached. Can you cut it off?

The smokebox door is just a push fit, you can easily remove it to replace with the other type. The switches and their wires are attached from the inside though, to fully remove the smokebox door you have to disassemble and unplug the wires for the switches from the main PC board. Then you can unscrew the small PC board with the switches from the back of the smokebox door and attach it to the new one. Disassembly is fairly straightforward, I think there's only four screws underneath holding the frames and motor block in place. You do have to be careful though, it remains attached by some fairly short wires so you don't have a lot of room to work with.

I ended up making a bit of a hybrid with mine, with a mix of parts from the UK/US versions.

Wow! That really does look the part!
Just it's just a bit of card around the smokebox's builders plate, I guess cutting it is the only option.
Thanks for the help with the switches. If I have to take it apart then I don't think I'll bother. I don't want to wreak anything after just getting it. Been looking at some pictures of the real 'Lyn' and it appears when she arrived she was still fitted with original US smokebox door and seemed to run with it for a while, so I'll keep the model like it for the time being.
Though I must say, your's look perfect and how I would really like mine ;)

Here's my Baldwin. UK smoke box door, headlamp and chimney. Removed cow catcher. Added various bits, repaint. Sound system and DCC. Her wheels get dirty, which is the only downside, and despite adding weight, she's not very strong!
