New engine house

More work today. I wanted to put a floor in . Eventually I want to add workbenches and tools and lights . 1/2 inch beams were cut and placed on the concrete slab then 3/4 inch wide strips of wood were glued down over the beams. I used a bogie to roll on the tracks to make sure the wood flooring wasn't to close to the rails . But I wanted the wood as close as possible to rails. Now that's something to live up to! (if only I could ....). Brilliant.

You have a great chimney sweep...it hardly looks used.. ;)
Yes I think I need to dirty it up a bit more at the top

No work on the engine house today. I have to do my real job today. Taking the boat I work on to fort Myers for coast guard inspection and hullout . 10 hour trip. Blaaaaaaaaaa. I shouldn't have stayed up so late playing with trains lol.IMG_20180815_141643610.jpg

Boating in all that blue stuff, some just do not know how to enjoy themselves!

Working on the lights that will hang in the engine house today. I'm using suction cups for the globe's. I did a thread on these lights . They seem to work well. They are clear so it takes a bunch of coats of paint so the light doesn't shine through. I start with several coats of black then I'm top coating them with green and white underneath to help reflect the light down. IMG_20180816_185240246.jpg

Worked on installing the lights today. I got them all wired in. I also got the light in the fireplace wired in . I cut aluminum cans up and used the aluminum sheets to cover up the wiring. Also got the first workbench built. I think I want 2 of them. Excellent.

Thanks for the comments guys. Digging through my parts and pieces I have been finding things that I can use for details. Most are tools that came with a couple of my climax and shay locos. I'm using them for the work benchs . the toolbox in the picture was a Christmas ornament I found at a yard sale. I cut the hook off and cut it apart where the one box set on top of the other looks pretty good. I also got a couple workers from eBay one is a welder so I will have him welding something. I got a flicker light that is supposed to look like welding to add in the lighting circuit. Here are a couple pictures.IMG_20180819_112947185.jpgIMG_20180819_102005501_HDR.jpg

More work done today. Took a short video of the interior. Took it through the window. I reached through the window . It's turning out pretty cool. IMG_20180819_163003436.jpgIMG_20180819_163053336.jpgIMG_20180819_163106821.jpgIMG_20180819_173039277.jpg
