Plastic water

Whilst we're on packaging and rubbish, can anyone tell me how the manufacturers of takeaway food packaging have defied the laws of physics? It always seems to me that the wrappers must get so heavy when empty, that no-one can bear the weight and have to drop them at once!

The Environmental Agency here has a phone number where you can dob in a "tosser" just supply some details, eg car make, colour, which window it was thrown out of, brief description of driver if seen and any other details you can provide and they will hunt them down and prosecute them.
They have also started a refund on cans, glass and plastic bottles scheme 10c an item, similar to one that has been running in Sth Aust for years. One bloke rang the local radio station and said that he and his mate made $500 in a fortnight just picking up rubbish and cashing in.

In UK taxes are too busy spent on further enriching already ritch gits, using Austerity as an excuse to not actually do anything meaningful. As for Police hunting down such morons, actually having an properly resourced Police Force rather than Police Commisioners and Spread Sheet wielding TopCops on mega salaries running a declining number of real bobbies running around ragged doing stuff that is not always necessary would be nice to have.

This isn't the police this is a dedicated department with rangers issuing fines.
The cops are to busy sitting on the side of the road raising revenue by pinging speeding motorists for be more than 10KpH over the limit, or in one state being over by 1Kph (zero tolerance)

Oh, and another thing. What about that dreaded styrofoam.....:punch:.....Can't get rid of it. If it breaks, good luck picking up those tiny pieces. We just purchased two large items that were packed in the dreaded stuff. It has to go into the regular trash as it cannot be recycled. So now I have huge blocks of it that must be stored and disposed of alittle bit at a time, so that there's room in the trash can for real trash.....:swear:.....

There's a pizza joint we go to because we like the pizza. The still use styrofoam cups.

who wants to throw away styropor?
mountains, tunnels, bridges, houses, embankments and, and, and...
indoors or outdoors.
easy to work with, stable in dry or wet, in sun or saltwater.
one of the best and easiest materials to build with and most often without cost.

You beat me to it! Modellers love polystyrene!

The stuff I have seen used as packing here has the little arrows chasing each other symbol.
This means its recyclable, I just shove it in the recycle bin and let them sort it out.

Here, we have to pay to recycle! Electrical goods carry a point of sale tax to cover recycling costs but it doesn't stop +++holes dumping fridges, etc.

A few weeks ago, an environmental officer from Mayo County Council rang my doorbell. She wanted to know who owned the fields down the road. It turns out that somebody had dumped rubbish in one of them. I was told that it was the responsibility of the land owner to remove said rubbish otherwise that person might well receive a fine!

If I pick up rubbish from the roadside (which I do) then it costs me to dispose of it.

It's the same here. One of our local farmers had a skip load of rubbish dumped across a field gate, so he got it on a trailer and took it to the dump. The management there said it was industrial waste so he had to pay to leave it, if he took it and put it back (on his own land) he would be prosecuted for fly tipping!

"If the law supposes that," said Mr. Bumble, squeezing his hat emphatically in both hands, "the law is a ass - a idiot".
