And even more between slow computers and lightersMethinks there is some confusion between the lighters with wicks and lighter fluid and a lighter using a tank of compressed gas.

Don't know - didn't smoke, as a general rule... apart from those little Henri Wintermans, very briefly, didn't know why I was bothering, gave them up. Then came the famous occasion when my boss, who had smoked them for years, closed a file, put it back in the cupboard, went out, closing the door behind him, and left the building... some time later his secretary went into his office, and found it full of smoke...You've got petrol!!!!!! Where did you get that?
My grandfather smoked himself to death at 65 just with Woodbines - don't fancy this guy's chances... mind, my Dad survived Senior Service until he was 70...
It was red petrol. David 1226's erstwhile colleagues are looking for him. You've got petrol!!!!!! Where did you get that?
I dunno. I sometimes feel like taking a lighter to a slow computer. And even more between slow computers and lighters
You would end up with the wrong sort of 'bits'.Or a lump hammer.
Imagine the scotch that might be consumed smoking that.
True, a lot of the problems with cigarettes, are additives, cigars tend to be purer.Yes, McCallan is my mainstay...
By the way, properly smoking cigars is 21 times LESS dangerous than cigarettes... there are some idiots that inhale, but very few.
that is me with the longest production cigar made, the Puros Indios "Chieftain"

Or the right sort, the way I feel about computers on occasionYou would end up with the wrong sort of 'bits'.
That's the way to treat the blighters Greg.Yes, long ago i actually took my frustrations out on a computer with a long handled, 10 pound sledge. flattened... true... childish, but I actually did feel better.
Since then, I would swear computers are much more cooperative... really
So as all these computers are networked, and can talk to each other, if mine plays up I can threaten it with "I'll send Greg round if you don't behave"Yes, long ago i actually took my frustrations out on a computer with a long handled, 10 pound sledge. flattened... true... childish, but I actually did feel better.

You are correct, Greg. My MAC desk top is seven years old. I am still running Safari. I've been told that upgrading to one of the newer operating systems isn't possible with my computer.replied elsewhere, sorry Dan, but this is not the first time it has happened to you only. Have you updated or added software lately?
Did you check your internet connection with the SpeedTest app, and also besides speed, note the "ping" time...
Also I would guess you are wireless with your iPad.... do you have any other computer in the house that you can test with?
Greg
I remember taking an obsolescent desktop to the recycling depot: Guy threw it down hard on the concrete floor, I guess to make sure no one would try to re-use it.Yes, long ago i actually took my frustrations out on a computer with a long handled, 10 pound sledge. flattened... true... childish, but I actually did feel better.

My computer is closer to 12 years old, but is a bit like "Triggers Broom" (Brits will understand the reference), as it is running the latest version of Win 10, and only the case has survived, even the PSU has been upgraded at some time. However the mobo is an ASUS P8Z77-V LX from 2011.Shed:
While those site errors can happen, clearly it's not affecting the rest of us.
It's more likely a slower computer (it is 7 years old)
An older version of the browser (Safari)
Lower resolution screen - see the other thread about lower resolution is modifying the menus on this web site.
Dan:
Can you load FireFox as your browser? Worth a try if you can.
Also, for your other issue, did you try changing your screen to a higher resolution? (just as a test)
