SLOW AND NOT RESPONSIVE (MERGED)

I’m using an Apple 5 phone with WiFi and an antique satellite dish (all about ten years old.) When posting here, the typing response gets slower and slower as my post gets longer. I don’t recall a slow response when texting and I have no experience with other forums. I’ve wrote the response time off to the age of my equipment and Apple intentionally degrading the software with updates in hopes I’ll purchase something new. However, this long winded reply hasn’t been plagued with delay. I might have an attempt Greg’s app suggestion.

You've got petrol!!!!!! Where did you get that?
Don't know - didn't smoke, as a general rule... apart from those little Henri Wintermans, very briefly, didn't know why I was bothering, gave them up. Then came the famous occasion when my boss, who had smoked them for years, closed a file, put it back in the cupboard, went out, closing the door behind him, and left the building... some time later his secretary went into his office, and found it full of smoke...

Yes, McCallan is my mainstay...

By the way, properly smoking cigars is 21 times LESS dangerous than cigarettes... there are some idiots that inhale, but very few.

that is me with the longest production cigar made, the Puros Indios "Chieftain"

True, a lot of the problems with cigarettes, are additives, cigars tend to be purer.

Yes, long ago i actually took my frustrations out on a computer with a long handled, 10 pound sledge. flattened... true... childish, but I actually did feel better.

Since then, I would swear computers are much more cooperative... really
That's the way to treat the blighters Greg.

So as all these computers are networked, and can talk to each other, if mine plays up I can threaten it with "I'll send Greg round if you don't behave" ;)

replied elsewhere, sorry Dan, but this is not the first time it has happened to you only. Have you updated or added software lately?

Did you check your internet connection with the SpeedTest app, and also besides speed, note the "ping" time...

Also I would guess you are wireless with your iPad.... do you have any other computer in the house that you can test with?

Greg
You are correct, Greg. My MAC desk top is seven years old. I am still running Safari. I've been told that upgrading to one of the newer operating systems isn't possible with my computer.

I'll look into the speed test, thanks.

We have the latest and greatest router from Verizon. Not that it means that much.

No other computers at the moment, but we are going to get a new laptop soon and was thinking of getting a new desktop also.

While those site errors can happen, clearly it's not affecting the rest of us.

It's more likely a slower computer (it is 7 years old)
An older version of the browser (Safari)
Lower resolution screen - see the other thread about lower resolution is modifying the menus on this web site.

Dan:
Can you load FireFox as your browser? Worth a try if you can.
Also, for your other issue, did you try changing your screen to a higher resolution? (just as a test)

Greg

I remember taking an obsolescent desktop to the recycling depot: Guy threw it down hard on the concrete floor, I guess to make sure no one would try to re-use it.
The crunch was rather satisfying >:).

My computer is closer to 12 years old, but is a bit like "Triggers Broom" (Brits will understand the reference), as it is running the latest version of Win 10, and only the case has survived, even the PSU has been upgraded at some time. However the mobo is an ASUS P8Z77-V LX from 2011. :)
