Taita Gorge Railway

Having temporary access to Mother-In-Law's 23" monitor, I decided to read the thread from start to end and enjoy the piccies nice and large, and I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed seeing the line evolve and mature over the years. The railway and its surroundings make for smashing photos - thanks for sharing, Gavin.

The fine citizens of San Francisco, out for a Sunday jaunt down to Fisherman's Wharf. 8) 8)
Not to be picky, but where's the cable?

Ach, never mind, your pix remind me that green and pleasant will eventually return :D

I didn't notice the lack of a cable.. .the young lady has nice legs though (return zoom to normal....) :D :D

:o Oh, frightfully sorry, old chap. Budget constraints, and all that, what. So, in the interests of maintaining Commonwealth relations, the directors put that wrong to right.... or have they made the wrong, more wrong?

Much better than those Chinese jobbies.

Feildban is flavour of the day, having finishing off installing hooks at 'the blind end' of a my remaining coal hoppers. Had to give then a run, of course, and duly record the occasion for the forum. 8)

Haven't seen that model before..
First thoughts:
"Honey, I shrunk the Stainz.."
;) :D ;D ;D

Very nice. I wish that more of these little Feldbahn style locos were available in live steam. This is my Decauville 3t given a more British feel, pic taken before fettling and painting. Currently in the queue for lining out at Matt Acton´s Berry Hill Works.

LGB. Orrenstein & Koppel prototype. I've had this model for 12 years now. LGB have recently re-released it. There is one of these locomotives preserved in Auckland NZ (hence the reason I bought it). Original model came with a top hat funnel. I swapped that for a straight one that you see on the model. LGB were always good for 'spares parts'. On mine, the skates wore out eventually, so I took them off to make sure I got the right ones when shopping for the replacements. I found that without skates, the loco actually hauled more..... I haven't bought the replacement skates, yet.

I take it coal was stored in a box in the cab and water had to be available lineside everywhere?

8) Wellington Garden Railway Group are having their March running day on 8 March at my Taita Gorge Railway. Forum members invited if you 'happen to be in the area'. PM for details. ;)

8) We didn't have Shays in New Zealand, but our bush tramway guru likes them, and asked if it was OK to run this on the Taita Gorge (one silly question allowed per year).

..... he then asked if I was going to run my Climax ::)

That mob, welcome back any time. A good running day had by all.

Wish I had the cash to pop over - flamin' flights so expensive! Ah well, might win the lottery one day :D

Research carrying on, on our local "wooden tramway" (No, it wasn't - metal rails- it transported wood)

Have a good'un

:-\ Start walking towards SE Victoria, and when you reach water, get out your water wings, and start swimming. :-X
