Thermalite Viaduct Build

Very Nice. Next time you are near St Clements Danes take a look at the stonework on the NE side, it looks just like that, it's full of shrapnel holes from wartime bombs. So that viaduct must had a pop from the light blue brigade? Cos you stuff looks very German 'n' that aint no oranges and lemons eever. :rolf:

Odd, I had to log in again....

Ah thanks Puggy, I see now - I'm useless with these things, no engine in 'em!

Steve, that is looking brilliant - the buttresses really add detail.

'Tis a work of art.

Time for an article for GardenRail Steve!

Cheers Wod , Mel and Neil .

Thanks Alan,

I did track them down and sent a message a couple of weeks ago - of course I haven't had a reply!

When I get back from vacation I'l give them a call.

I think they are interested in large orders, and probably half a dozen doesn't float their boat!

I'll give a shout in a week or so and report back.

Thanks again

Very impressive Steve, you certainly dont hang around when you get the bit in your teeth

seeing the gargoyles, gave me an idea
here is a pic of a "Girlgoyle"

just a random, impossible, thought
would you be in credit if you could get a face mask of your other half, reduce it to scale & mount it on your viaduct as a centre point??

the way your going, nothing should be immpossible!!

Really enjoyed watching your progress Steve - excellent work

Must admit to being very inspired by the work our Aussie cousin Greg H has been producing!

Regards
Rob

One of those "must read until the end threads". Great job Steve - given me some ideas, with the arches raised up on brick piers in my case. Have spoken to Mrs B about cutting and assembling it on the lounge carpet, as you have done, and she is quite agreeable. Oh look ... there goes another pig across the sky.........

I will have you know i did clean up after i was done

Indeed you must have done, I could hardly see a trace of dust on your carpet, but did you cut it in there, or just assemble it there?

I am fortunate in that I have an open sided leanto shed so that the wind can blow away any dust I make

Okay, but when the bitter wind blows...the family jewels are reduced to pea-size, or not?

Steve,
That sure is a big bridge now that it's all together. Details are really finishing it off.
Your ideas about drain holes just reminded me that when I built my big viaduct, it rained before I had any track down and I found I had built a great aquaduct instead. So I just drilled long holes angled from the top to the side walls. Nothing fancy like your ideas!

BTW I don't think you'll be able to do fine details for Gargoyles in Thermalite, but if you really want to do something fancy, I'd suggest polyclay.

Steve could nominate a Centralist as his model. Now I wonder . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .???
