Thermalite Viaduct Build

Definately impressed! Just wish I could get hold of blocks over here (you can if you want a pallet load).

Due to the splendid weather out i managed to get one more block cut in the garage , also i raised the hight of the wall by one row.

Two'll do! :thumbup:Actually, they could end up like a box of loose sugar if recent parcels are owt to go by! Its only 100 mile to the factory - I keep saying when I visit my sons I should call in and ask for a sample!.

It'll be funny handshakes next.
Definitely with the biceps he's developing cutting the blocks. I've used them too, and I think Steve will agree although easier to cut than solid concrete you still end up cream crackered - and the saw goes in the bin as it will be toothless.
Still, dead smart job

Where are you going to put this most impressive structure on your railway Steve?

If you are replacing the wooden one that you've already built, then you will need some more blocks and another week off work....

Perhaps there is a cunning plan (extension) that Mrs Meerkat hasn't been told about yet...

or
do as I did & use a jigsaw, had to do 2 cuts, one from each side but with accurate marking out, good results, although the blocks I used were only 4" ones

Nice one Steve

I think my accuracy isn't up to it and also my jigsaw would throw in the towel before I started :rolf:
I'm not entirely useless, but not far off

Third section cut out today recon just one more should do it then again maybe i will extend it to 5

I like that second pic looking down the track Steve!

any plans on drainage of the track?

holes in the side walls would give realistic stains down the viaduct sides

Brilliant idea Don , do you have any pics to show what you mean and me to copy .

Tried your Jigsaw idea today and killed one of my jigsaws :rolf:

Worked a treat but the saw was not very happy

Got no pics Steve, but if you imagine a boats deck, with scuppers down each side & holes in the boat side at deck level, for the water to run out of sideways, I would imagine holes about 10mm, square would look good, be big enough to drain & clear any blockages from leaves

Is, sorry, was your jigsaw a sophisticated oscillatory type?

The one I used was a B&Q 9.99 cheapy with a worn out wood cutting blade, without the pedalum thingy that the dearer models use

Just my old Black and Decker one i still have my Robi one
