Track cleaner from Piko

Ouch! Not too cost effective on an inexpensive loco!
If I were wanting DCC Sound in it I woukd use a completely new decoder and ditch all the existing boards. Be much cheeper at perhaps the cost of some revised wiring.

But I Am converting my non battery one to Battery Sound if I can fit all new stuff and batteries in.

Good to see these updates and info. Folks in the States are still waiting as Piko is saying the loco is due in mid-November. Bummer a North American model cannot be released in North America first. (Though we understand where it is made... it's still a bummer.)

I haven't had any new tooling running at my place in years... so hopefully that ship moves quickly to the U.S. (Now... how to find a way to hide one in my own stocking for Christmas and act surprised. ;))

Greg, (or anyone in-the-know)
You seem to be on top of the wiring... It seems like all of the boards and circuits would make it simpler for DCC conversion. Just insert a decoder and speaker... no need for other things. Am I correct in thinking this? (Is that what the extra wires to the roof speaker are for... to make the speaker just a drop-in?)

Cool, just was getting a lot of questions stateside too, as they are not in the stores yet.

Whenever you have time, no huge rush.

Regards, Greg
Ok Greg here we are all the boards as removed from a Non Cleaning Loco both sides.

Tye 4 wires white, red, blue and grey on the board marked 3001 were disconnected from the Motor Block. Hope this answers the rest if the question for your Stateside wonderers?

GREAT! that really answers the questions about conversion, looks like they made it simple.

Do you mind if I use your pictures on my site? Many questions popping up about these little guys.

Greg
No worries feed your boots! But be nice to have a Phot by Dunnyrail included please.

In case folks are interested, the GE 25-Tonners arrived at PIKO America on Friday 11/9 - exactly on schedule. We are quite busy shipping out "tons" of locos for folks and retailers that pre-ordered. It might take a few weeks to get them all shipped out, and we have Thanksgiving coming soon, so please be patient with us... we had a lot of orders, and more keep coming in.

Locos are already starting to arrive at retail stores, so you may want to call your favorite shop to see if/when they will have them in stock so you can check them out in person. We hope you love them.
