Well, you can get a Mallard...Talking of ducks, I wonder if a large scale Duck will be produced at anytime?
What surprises me is that G scale manufacturers have been so slow / unwilling to use flywheels. Given the known issue of track cleanliness outdoors, it always seemed an obvious benefit to me. Bachmann have used them on their later 1:20.3 offerings but they should have been using flywheels as a matter of course. There is no harm done if the loco is used on DCC or battery power, but it's incredibly difficult to add a flywheel to a mass-produced model.Faffing about in 0 gauge with a former Blue Flyer. It had been done up with a PR upgrade kits that included 2 x motor bogies, new side-frames and lots of other detailing. It had seen better days but I was happy to get it For £90 x ebay. In fact tje advert showed it in bits so it was a bit of an act of faith to bid on it but the bogies and motor all worked so a good basisi for some work. I have done a fair bit if tidying up and made a better job of fitting the side frames with 12ba screws and cross pieces of soldered brass to the main chassis.

Sir Garfield Montcreef.
Good point. I wonder if the idea is that the momentum of heavy stock is sufficient to keep 'em rolling. What surprises me is that G scale manufacturers have been so slow / unwilling to use flywheels. Given the known issue of track cleanliness outdoors, it always seemed an obvious benefit to me.

The Reverend Morgan is wearing patent leather dancing pumps. I can't imagine that going down well at the Presbyterian chapel!I already have two reverends:-

I agree for track power the flywheel is a great addition, but not just for that my Roundhouse Jack has a stonking great SloMo Flywheel that makes driving it a thing you need to think more carefully about and this Hymec will have Battery Power as well so will be my first Battery Powered loco with flywheels. Be interesting to see how it pans out. What surprises me is that G scale manufacturers have been so slow / unwilling to use flywheels.
