Winton

A 2-4-0 dumpy makes it onto the tracks for the first time in quite a few years. I have two of these and joined them electronicly in consist via the central station and they ran great. Ran as single loco's after that event and the sound was never the same in both loco's so these days they run silent. I'll get round to putting sound boards in one day. I have no idea why these pics are showing three times and the visitor counter isn't working! I have managed to do some deleting......

Not been so good with an inguinal hernia so the railroad has suffered with trains making a comeback this last couple of days. Ended up in hosi when the hernia strangler paid me a visit but it did get me operated on and the clips came out today, so, mallet 251 with a box car consist stretches its pistons........

I like the dog house on each of my Sumpters, bought them off 2 jags when he was closing down for a very good price. I think he had 5 and i bought 2, should have had the 5 away.

Go on...what are they for?

For the brakeman Mr D, sits back to the engine and watches out for any tell tale signs of smoke from the axle boxes and nips out with his staff to apply car brakes. Same job as the conductor working out of the caboose and used on consists a lot longer than mine. The unit is a Bachmann and comes with seat and heating steam pipes! All of the above open to correction from them that knows!

Yet again I embark on another chapter of Winton that will see the set up reduced quite drastically with the current town area being reclaimed as space for the garden dining table. I have been out this morning looking at a local supplier of log buildings and this afternoon to buy an On30 2-4-4-2 mallet, 12 yards of track and some odds and sods. I will be ordering the cabin (16' x 8') soon and it will be home to the new layout with a run in for the garden trains. I expect I will be selling quite a lot off over the coming months to fund the new venture but, at least, I will have an interest through the long winter months!

Well, after a weekend of thought and talking it over with Gail the log cabin is on hold and the On30 is a non starter, the loco is a lovely bit of kit but too small. Anyway, work is moving on to give Gail her new patio and the new track plan is well on its way, much simpler and it will have a run in to the cabin when it happens, there will also be a set up in the cabin using radius 1 vures on a dog bone. In the meantime the track is being laid for the new set up and there will not be a continuous loop for some time. So, if you model On30 and fancy a 2-4-4-2, track and figures please give me a shout!!

Wise woman is Gail.

A few pics to show how it's coming along. The two tracks in pic 1 will be going around the back of the shed, the outer being the fence hugger and the inner the local, the branch into the new cabin will come off the local. The town will be reinstated around the station with the space in the loop for industry..........we'll see!
