Woodlock Logging

It's all looking brilliant this year.
Thanks. I've put a bit more focus on the track etc this year making sure it's easy to use when I want to. Nothing worse than having to do jobs on the line before running it.

That is is problem with ground level lines. Personally I prefer them, but it does mean a lot of clearing needs to be done before a session

Points wired up after work. Need to hide all the wire, can't stand visible wire. Tamp and ballast the sliding. General scenery stuff.

Brace yourself. A lot of pictures of today's progress from start to finish. It's going to rain so stopped work for today. Found that the fence post is rotten at the bottom after cutting back foliage. Possibly the most inconvenient one to replace, so I've put some rotten wood harden treatment, which has done what it's supposed to, and I need to fill the post back with filler. Hopefully this will buy another year or two, but I'm prepared to change it if needed. I'd just sooner not right now. Other than that, I just need some freight items for the platform and to glue some stuff down.

Well. The railway has been an absolute arse today. For no particular reason, everything has gone wrong. Derailments mainly, on the turning circle. Turns out the concrete track bed was causing a rise and sudden drop which certain wagons hated. Complete relay job. It does however look better. Now running ok again. I could have launched it into the next village a few hours ago.....PXL_20240702_152951842.jpgPXL_20240702_152956530.jpgPXL_20240702_153009608.jpgPXL_20240702_153225724.jpgPXL_20240702_153430113.jpg

Sods law dictates that a railway runs perfecly until you have visitors round then it goes wrong. If you were alone perhaps your railway is haunted?

Some more ballast from the garden centre. And a new stash of rocks, from a super top secret, secret pile, down a covert road, hidden by trees, in a secret part of deepest darkest West Yorkshire. (the farmer piles them up there in a massive pile after ploughing, for people to take for their gardens). If you know, you know.....

And a bit more testing.....PXL_20240704_082513566.jpgPXL_20240704_082600394.jpgPXL_20240704_083209369.jpgPXL_20240704_083214671.jpgPXL_20240704_114031399.jpg

It's been the smallest, longest job on the railway. But, I think I can now call the freight siding near as damn it, complete.

Rocks placed. Fence post repaired. Fence painted where the tree once stopped it getting painted. Sleepers painted. And a few more test runs with light locomotives, as it's too windy for wagons.

Must be all the bluster from the polling stationPXL_20240704_124620275.jpgPXL_20240704_130341621.jpgPXL_20240704_130526949.jpgPXL_20240704_130701875.jpgPXL_20240704_130704628.jpgPXL_20240704_130709711.MP.jpgPXL_20240704_133056109.jpgPXL_20240704_133204638.MP.jpgPXL_20240704_133224484.jpgPXL_20240704_133228439.jpgPXL_20240704_133530809.MP.jpgPXL_20240704_133657844.MP.jpgPXL_20240704_133709866.MP.jpgPXL_20240704_133738480.jpgPXL_20240704_133942155.jpgPXL_20240704_134505958.MP.jpgPXL_20240704_135648890.MP.jpgPXL_20240704_135655440.jpg....

Made the hole in the fence a bit neater after a trip to Wickes for some PVC trim. Decided it doesn't need to be realistic, as it runs along a fence, which isn't very realistic. Sometimes practical has to be chosen.PXL_20240712_172516477.jpgPXL_20240712_174914278.jpg

Finally got around to taking the bridge out, and replacing some bent rail. The bridge had gradually sunk at one end, and the track had a bend in it (probably because I stood on it) causing wobble on trains. The bridge has been re-set and the rail replaced.PXL_20240718_114552905.jpgPXL_20240718_115104410.jpgPXL_20240718_115454840.jpgPXL_20240718_162845640.jpgPXL_20240718_162850100.jpgPXL_20240718_164541948.jpgPXL_20240718_165244002.jpg
