I have not posted much after the Collapse of G.S.M. various reasons like a house move to Mid Wales, feral cats and a feeling of slight misgivings of the events that transpired.
I have followed this thread with interest to see what a difference a year has made. During the two two days at Llanfair I was able to watch the interest that, the sale of these items had generated and can say that the stall holder didn't take many unsold items home with him! Also there wasn't any protests about these items being for sale there.
In some respects the name L.G.B. has become a Genericized trademark when dealing with G gauge railways, like Hoover & Vacuum cleaners, the Ebay seller
has included the term L.G.B. in his text to make sure he sells these items and gets his message across to G gauge modellers.  It's quite clear in the text that the items are by Newquida. So I have no problems with that!
Also this thread has got me thinking,
1).there are Branches of Halfords in Norway!
2).What the hell are "Russian Ribs"? A Google search shows the remains of a Red Army soldier from the Winter War against Finland!
And finally
3).I am glad I didn't go ahead with my idea of pouring a thinned wash of black paint into the body of the blue Newquida tank wagon so as to make it more opaque! Could have caused major problems with S.W.M.B.O!
Back to the drawing board, something to think about in the long darker evenings!

Just a quick question regarding the prototype of this type of tanker; On the information board on the model itself, RhB is printed. Did they or do they exist on the RhB or is this something else? The only reason I ask is the buffers are different and I would just like to know.

It was the entrenched and dogmatic opinion of certain forum members, and the resulting unpleasant exchanges, with regard to the introduction of the Newquidia brand, that finally led to the demise of G Scale Mad. It is refreshing, reading through all the above responses, that there is now a far more relaxed and accepting attitute to it. I just feel sad that this attitude did not exist a years ago, we might all still be Madders instead of Centralists (with no disrespect to Lisa).

David

And they would have been available in greater quantities from more outlets - I know this as I imported them! There would have been a limited (200) edition GSM tanker or box car (which would have helped pay for the GSM site) but due to all of the agro, Jason was not prepared to go with it.

Im not bitter by the way.

I am. Jason deserved better.

I wonder if they could be converted to look like milk tankers, sprayed white and 'United Dairys' lettered on the side. Hmmmmmmmmmmm......

I believe Bachmann will shortly be adding a milk tanker to their Thomas range.

Yes they are on Dragon G Scale's Thomas page. Tidmouth Milk or Sodor Fuel liveries.

The Thomas stuff is very very popular in OO, hopefully it can boost a younger interest in G scale!!!, my girls have seen the G scale stuff and would love some in the garden,.

They do seem to be appearing a lot on exhibition layouts and the kids faces are a treat when they see something they recognise.

Like mine looking at a 8F:bigsmile:

Because these NQ tankers are cheap and bashable/resprayable(possible trademark on those words), lets see what people can do with them in a no win competition. We've already seen some excellent examples.

Ok John, I'll switch the sarcasm off and be honest. I am bitter and I do hold, and you are absolutly 500% correct, Jason did deserve better.

I can't believe grown men can go to the steps some went to during that thing.
I mean, some of them was over the top by so many miles that I actually think it was criminal and worthy of a police report or five. That personal harassment was definitely illegal.

And some of the posts that came as GSM was closing... argh.

Bitter? yes, count me in the bitter group.

Just a word of interest. I have just bought 3 of these tankers from Kanga and when I paid by paypal it was STO Models that I paid. I have no problems with that but ensure you get what you ordered because in the past I have received a mixed bag of coloured tankers and not those which I originally orders.

Regards

Tom

Please gentlemen this is not the place to rake over old ground. We were all bitterly disappointed about the demise of GSM but dragging it all up again here is counter-productive and serves no useful purpose.

Please respect the forum Ground Rules http://www.gscalecentral.net/m24626

Thanks Spule 4, Now I know, Seem to remember that the French railways SNCF had steel coaches with ribs not to forget products by Budd!

dragging it all up again here is counter-productive and serves no useful purpose.

Would the moderators please explain how the first post in this thread was deemed to be "productive and serving a useful purpose". It looked like NQD bashing to me.

I'm not sure what the other Mods felt but from my viewpoint the opening post, whilst it could possibly be interpreted as NQD bashing, was a simple statement of fact. There were indeed NQD products listed on ebay with LGB in the title.

We have been accused so many times of "over moderating" GSC in the past that the general concensus with this thread was to let it run it's course but monitor closely and intervene when felt necessary.

Some of the more recent entries relating to the demise of GSM however actually go so far as to blame individuals for this and make reference to the "red box brigade" in a derogatory fashion, which I personally feel isn't acceptable However rather than acting individually I'm currently awaiting opinions from my fellow Moderators on the best course of action.

As Mods we tread a very fine line between letting people have their say at the risk of others being offended and being accused of squashing debate and/or unwarranted censorship. We have been accused of the latter in respect of this subject on previous occasions it has been aired on GSC.

The Mods took a decision to let the initial views be expressed in this thread - on the proviso that those views were expressed responsibly and in measured terms. For example, personal abuse, as distinct from banter between friends, is not appropriate.
