Hi Mel, I have just chucked it in the boot, so it's there when we drop by. I am afraid a couple of downsides- i can't find the roof any where, but will look again in the daylight. worse ALL four of her buffer discs are gone - I am irriatated about this as that smacks of vandalisim on the part of one of the boys  Anyway it is a rolling chassis so I am sure you will be able to do something with it.
No probs mate.

Re:G64 back to back

serves me right for not reading all the posts! If you think you would have a use for a wagon chassis let me know. I need the body but not a chassis so if I mfind a home for the chassis for say £10 then the project is worth while.

PM sent.

Re:G64 back to back

As per Simon's previous post, another Troublesome Truck chassis arrived recently and was shunted into the works today for conversion. Quite a simple one this time - based on an ex-GWR CARFIT flat (ish) wagon.

Construction of the body (such as it is) is from ply and plasticard. If it looks familiar then you may have seen something very similar in the August Railway Modeller. ;)

I've got my eye out for a suitable piece of agricultural equipment for a load. A 1/22nd Massey Ferguson 135 would be nice, but I'm not holding me breath. The only things left to construct are the shields over the buffers before a coat of grey paint ................... and you know what Gareth.

Another interesting conversion - are you sure the 64mm line isn't going to be expanding soon?
Never say never James. ;);)

With 5 wagons and a loco the 8' long siding is certainly getting pretty full. I've got another Annie coach chassis in the workshop too.

Re:G64 back to back

Mel,

I seem to remember you thinking about something portable in G3 (although I could be having a "senior moment").
Have you looked at the late Carl Arendt's site for inspiration? I'm sure some of the micro-layout schemes could be worked up for your "big boys scale" ....

Re:G64 back to back

All done now pending on finding a suitable load (an ebay bid has been submitted - 4 days to wait).

The chained sleepers work like chocks on wheeled loads. I'm really glad I used real wood (or at least, ply) for the main deck rather than plasticard. The texture is so much more interesting.

I must admit it's looking a bit that way at the moment Don. I promise that I will find some narrow gauge projects to do again sometime soon.:bigsmile:

I blame all these nice people sending me Thomas stock to modify.:thumbup:

Re:G64 back to back

I assume you saw the G3 layout in Railway Modeller a couple of months ago, Mel?
(I'm sure you have the odd 25' of space spare...) :)

Re:G64 back to back

Next gauge 3 project is going OK. This time it's a BR standard brake van mounted on the chassis from the Annie coach that Ian kindly gave me. Here are the component parts from various ply wood and plasticard.

I've had to take a few liberties with the length of the bodywork, but I think it should turn out OK. Here it is all put together. The duckets were a bit of a nightmare.

Re:G64 back to back

Once again getting the proportions right to fit an existing chassis works just as well as merely following prototype dimensions.

You'll be needing a point soon for that second siding ;)
