Harz Mallet Bash from Newquid Body and 2 x 20231.2 Chassis. Battery Powered.

Jon, in that last batch of photos of the new Mallet being test-run with a train, what make is the red and cream carriage nearest the loco? I notice that it seems to have a different roofline to the LGB, Trainline45 or Naughty Newqida offerings?

Jon.

That turned out really well. It does deserve some metal pilot wheels though.
A very impressive line up of locomotives!

Fantastic job Jon, the perfect partner for the harzbulls! Really looks at home, now that's what you call "heavy metal "!

It is a Feld Coach obtained second hand from Glendale Junction. Have that, a bogie open and a 4 wheel van from tne same source in both cases. Too nice to resist! A link to Groorspur who appear to list the varying products for you.

Erm they are all Metal LGB wheels from the Donor Loco, only used Newquid Parts for the body and detail, the rest of the Newquid bits are in a box wondering what to do with em! There is thogh a viable 2-6-0 Chassis for some other battery job! Not for me though, nothing that interests me of that arrangement on the Harz!

Go on, Jon - tell us what it is! Another conversion/scratchbuild, or just converting a stock loco to battery?

Jon.
Stock well not quite a very old 2080S 2-6-2 that fits in just right with my Harz Theme. Havea DCC fitted one but this is a great donor with Metal Valve Gear. Lots of redundant bits already removed and wired up for power so runs on Battery OK (tested in a PP9) but not yet ordered the bits from Steve at Fosworks.image.jpegimage.jpeg
After that will be something very different an Essell Steam Tram, one of only 2 made. Been in bits for a long time after the Nicad Batterys gave up the Ghost!image.jpeg

Ah, thanks - I thought the roofline looked familiar, I've seen the Feld stuff before online though not seen one "in the flesh"......

I see now, the front pilot wheels still have paint on their treads. I thought they were plastic ones. The paint will soon wear off.

Very nice build! You did a super job of detailing your constructon steps. That "line up" pic really shows the power ready to go to work.
Love to see your "brut" pulling a rack of coal hoppers in some far away West Virginia "holler"!:)
Looking forward to the next project.....tom

Closest I could get to this would be a visit to Nick Trudgian's Southern Cross line if I could somehow get a visit to it.
