Mike, you are truly gifted. I am sure you could do this for a living, but then it wouldn't be so much fun any more!

It took me a moment to work out what I was looking at in the tube picture.

Recycling:
tube - check
cap - ???

One question, from somebody who knows nothing about building: doesn't the flashing go over the tiles, to stop the water from going under them?

Not always Peter. Mikes flashing acts as a drip, catching water below each tile but feeding it out on top of the next one lower.
if you look carefully between the tiles and the lead(lower left), you can see the individual 'drips'flashing.jpg

Drips are also known as Soaks or Soakers.

Thanks Peter :-)
Yes..and no.. Allan nailed it ..but my reason is the roof has to come off . The loft will be the wiring hub for all the buildings electrics .

Thanks for the explanations. Seems awfully complicated, but I guess in your climate the roofies must know what they are doing.

Lovely locos - you're building up quite a fleet!

Mostly good for a whole nineteen days! Must try and remember to use your yardstick (metaphorically speaking of course) on my better half when I pluck the courage!
