Lazy Grange Bay 3...a new start

Worked on the wooden lean to, awaiting some tiny flowers from China, but as far as everything else, it's done ..just hope eians happy with it20230805_163705.jpg20230928_151543.jpg

Last breath...the flower pots from China arrived Friday afternoon..seeing as Eian green is at the Yorkshire 16mm show today, sataday. Cutting it fine I'd say but they are on. .bit of a bugger as the car parking was full .we were on the top field, so jenny took Eain to the car to collect it..I didn't get to see his face when he got it..as I stayed inside, legs are knackered.
I think he liked it..the hug was a clue! 20230929_135347.jpg20230929_135513.jpg

So handed over to eian at the Yorkshire 16mm show last weekend, think he was happy with it!
Time for a change ,
I have a cheap 1/24 rc landrover, by fmx I think, £70..its a crawler, it means unlike most rc cars, this gose slowly..
I have a beautiful 1/24 scale landrover series 1, in die cast metal..
The chances of it working are slim..
But there's only 1 way to find out..20230325_133407.jpg20221006_163550.jpg20231002_142701.jpg

Getting there, but now I've dropped a bearing. Bugger !!20231002_142706.jpg

Found it !!! Only took...20231003_110032.jpg

After the successful transplant of rc gear in to the 1/18 scale series 1 landrover, time to move onto the next project. A conversion of a 6 wheeled crawler , (sixer) into a 1960s style lorry
Start by stripping the crawler boddy of to get at the metal chassis, move the suspension shockabsorders to a lower position, dremel the shock towers down in hight as they are too tall for a flat back lorry..I'm using a upvc sofit bord scrap, as the back of the lorry..its strong enough to take screws, glue and paint. I've started glueing coffee stirring sticks on to it as the back..
Might print some new wheels and tires to suit it...cab, for now, is of a differnt model, it a unimog ...Screenshot_20231015_104131_eBay.jpg20231009_140035.jpg20231014_102738.jpg20231014_123028.jpg20231014_123526.jpg20231012_145853.jpg20231014_133127.jpg20231014_134756.jpg20231012_123729.jpg

I was thinking that the original sixer cab would make a nice wrecker/recovery truck. Quite a few ex-military lorries were converted in the 60's.

I've also brought a few RC vehicles to run with my railway recently. I have the same Landy that you started with for your Mk 1 conversion. I'm very impressed with what you've done Mike.

I have a EdeB Road/Rail Unimog on my layout, which is DCC, (as well as a Brekina VW Drasine), but my favourite RC vehicle is my Front End Loader/Digger....

Slight change of plan. We'll..slight..
3d printed wheels are working ..printed 2..so I can replace the soft rock crawler ones with more traditional ones..which means , I can use a differnt cab..
3d printed one is on the right

Happier with this set up..dremel the wheel arches to acomadate the larger wheels , cut the cab of the framework( triange die cast toy truck) marked out the back of the cab, to fit onto the lorrys chassis, cut the wheels axle mounts to suit the position on the truck, and mounted 5 of the printed wheels, last ones on the printer..painted the hubs of the wheels instut, easier while they are turning slowly 20231016_153403.jpg20231017_110633.jpg20231017_144851.jpg

Wify brought me something home from her holiday.. a bug..feel rough..
Made a new back for the lorry..narrow that the last one , fixed coffee stirring sticks to it..and tried to suit.. fixed the cab to the back , made a chassis to make the rc crawler fit the lorry..and started on the rear mudguards, one side done ....20231020_115846.jpg20231020_115841.jpg20231020_133833.jpg20231021_155036.jpg20231022_153748.jpg

I saw the old 6-wheeler sitting there, and I wondered where it was heading - nice >:)>:)

It's rather moist out,so continued working on the lorry after having q week off being ill with jenny bug....
Painted, cab details, lights, and wooden deck stained..3d printed wheels work fine..

Love it - I have an unbuilt Büssing truck sitting in my huge ToDo pile (it has been there a decade!) - do you put LEDs at the lights or use fibre optics to transmit light to the clusters?
