Lazy Grange Bay 3...a new start

Ah, yes, hedges! I've reduced the 75 metres of Leylandii to 50 since we moved in and am keeping it, partly because most forms a northerly windbreak and the rest are neighbour likes to be at least 2 metres high - so I keep my side about that and she has her side higher. Cutting is outsourced to a local chap who since 2022 has charged £350 (includes other odds and ends and occasional jobs for a nominal sum). This goes up to £400 next year, but I'll keep him on as he employs at least four other people now since he first startedf with his partner.

The 25 metres which has gone has been replaced by bird friendly mixed hedge (for "bird friendly" read "sharp and spiky and prickly" with varied colours, flowers and berries. This I like to do myself, by hand with secateurs, hedge clippers and occasionally hand loppers - a long job, but very relaxing and, since I got hearing aids, wonderfully soundful as pretty well each type of hedge has it's own sound.

How did you do the check rails?interesting and look good i may need some on my Bridge.
Spare lengths of rail, I measured the required length, and bent the ends in..then I used clear silicone, a small dab (technical term up north!) on each sleeper that it was going to sit on .and left to dry...it's been 10& years...

Great photos, Mike. I especially like the first one which has that are of mystery - who is the driver waving to? You know it's anothermember of a train crw, of course, but what do they look like? Are they waving back yet?
The groom, at the church is waving too, we are a friendly bunch !! As for the hedge , the wasps nest in it , a few years ago was fun , but this is for the best , I hope , had social services round today , and she was measuring up for handrails to the shed, she was very impressed with the railway. ..I did offer to show her my sheds delights , but she had to go..
