A Corpet, Frank & Nikki S, Spreewald. Alyn

Hi Alyn

That's a great set of pictures, especially the trams and small electric locos.

I can't seem to find deschribe-online.de - is it still going?

Ian

should be here

http://www.drehscheibe-online.de/

only its blocked @ work so I can't check!

Drehscheibe = turntable, but apparently can also mean a "hot-spot" so maybe an intended pun there, as in a hot-spot central meeting place for rail fans?

PS - hope all these images are used according to the rules "Use of images on G Scale Central" ?

Alyn great pics
over here in the US i dont get to see much of these types of examples-
and its great to see -coaches and freight cars and in particular the length of trains

the older LGB catalogs often had a shot of the prototypes-

here in the US, on  some of the other forums LGB was often maligned for the rubber ruler -as well as the other compromises in particular to US offerings

but to my eye, most of the euro models and some of the US were seemingly spot on-if a trifle condensed length wise-the US and euro trolleys are rather brilliant-truly treasures as model trains IMHO-

One thing ive always loved about LGB was that -while seemingly odd or one off prototype models were sometimes chosen-they were unique.  The breadth of their choices from Choe to the Garrett was great for the open minded lover of all things railroad.

i think the spremberger looks rather close to the prototype pic

im astonished at how accurate the steam dummies are to the prototypes-to my eye-having never seen many at all-they always seemed fanciful

i think too that the Corpet example is different from the actual one used for the LGB model, as Ive seen pics of that corpet, which has smaller drivers--the red one-and it is , to my eye, the most beautifully proportioned of all the LGB models

would love to see more if you have them please-especially the pantagraph service loco with the flat bed, and anythign thats close the the schoemas and KOFs with drive rods
and as a yank-some of those late 40's early 50's b and w photos (im guessing by the attire) make austria and germany look rather dismal and joyless

Hi Steve, the pantographs LGB use are bought in from Sommerfeldt, made from brass, and are fully working (I use them on my tramway 100% reliable) The Spreewald, a 1917 Jung product, was rebuilt in 1956 with a new cab etc so the black LGB version is correct 1956(late) till purchased for private use with the DEV, NB did run on the Harz whilst in rebuilt form for running in. The third picture is of Stainz in pre-extended tank state circa 1956, as per the LGB model. Alyn

great pics

thought the wagons looked out of proportion in pic 3 until I realised they were SG on transporter wagons

luv that green saxon
-i kick myself for not buying one when they first were offered-

over here they are astronomical now-$1300 non -sound -2K sound!

even if marklin re-offers ill bet they shall be very overpriced

An absolutely excellent thread Alyn, and one that will be a work of reference on this site for years to come. I do however quibble with your choice of the WAB rack electrics above, unless I've missed a trick. I offer, instead, the Schollenenbahn (courtesy of Alex at Buntbahn). There is an excellent set of pictures of this line http://www.buntbahn.de/fotos/showgallery.php?cat=637&password=
