Llangollen garden railway festival 2022

Catering! I brought my own coffee in a flask, also had water. I did notice the queues at both the cafe and ice cream van. I took a 5 minute walk into town where there is a far wider choice. One of the closest is probably the station cafe, where profits are returned back to the railway.

Possibly too North American a reference? Post offices (used to) have malefactors' mugshots on the wall so the public could ID them.
Not that anyone here is wanted ...
... at least by the law.
It was ages before I knew what “going postal” referred to. US work colleagues used the expression quite a bit and I guess they may have been a bit baffled by the lack of reaction from us English folk.

The sad phenomenon of disgruntled ex-employees exercising their right to bear arms.
Occasionally happens up here, where there is no such right.

Thank you ,all of you ,,it was epic..
We are all volunteers, from the event manger to the stewards, the only paid staff are the canteens staff who are council staff, the council run the catering and we have no control over it..the signs, we were let down by the printers at the last minute, in the 1st hall( narrow gauge) there was to be a huge sign saying * this way to the steam hall!* .
It didn't happen..we will learn from our mistakes, and lastly all profits going to charity, a cheque for £500 was given before we opened the doors, regardless of weather we made any profit 20220514_120401.jpg20220514_114421.jpg20220514_114419.jpg20220514_114402.jpg20220514_112715.jpg20220514_112817.jpg20220514_120724.jpg20220514_135619.jpg20220514_140023.jpg20220514_135632.jpg

Here I am, on the fifth photo down......

What a GREAT day, Mike and the crew!!!! Great thanks to all concerned for what has to be one of the very best shows I've ever attended. All I heard around me, by way of comment, was 'isn't it great?'

However, I have to remember Henry V's great speech, quoted by Bill Shakespeare, about those who were NOT there. Never fear, absentees, your lack of presence at the first Llangollen show, where so many made a genuine effort to attend, was noted. You were missed, but.................
I know, tac, but it's a far walk for me ...

Please read my revised post - my comment was not aimed at absent friends, but at a few of the major players in the trade who were not there, and, I must admit, for reasons I just do not understand. 'nuff said.
Good call tac, I read the original and was a bit put out TBH, but all's good now:)

Perhaps it’s just the way the photos were taken but there didn’t appear to be many youngsters there?

I was there, at 58, I go to these shows as it's the only place I feel young :giggle:

Sadly Bill Shakespeare (not the bard) is non to well these days, Well the bill I know and former chairman of the Llangollen Railway from the Flint and Deeside through to the 90's He steered the railway, we're hoping to make sure he sees the dream complete and he gets to Corwen by train:)

I have to admit that I've not made the acquaintance of YOUR Bill Shakespeare, but I HAVE amended my post yet again to reflect my own opinion of the show. Those well-known and popular traders who were not there must do as they think fit.
