Misleading description

LGB = G = LGB, that in ebay descriptions is a fact of life.
Heres another one:
Lionel = O = Lionel
The terms are considered and treated generic terms for the scale they are because they have been around for so long thats what everyone associates them with...anyone here ever refer to their vacuum cleaner as a "Hoover" even though it was a different brand??? anyone??? Really??????
Sellers add tags like LGB or Lionel to the descrition line because thats the way to get the search engines to add your item to the results list.
The fact that these are Newquida seams to be once again the fly in the ointment, seams some people still just cannot get used to the new kid down the street.

This is my final post on the subject.
I am not objecting to anything in the posting except that it does not say anywhere that is anything other than LGB.
STO models are professionals and must be assumed to know the score.
I have bought from them in the past and have 6 items of the products they are advertising here.
I do not oppose the sale of these products per se.

Well yes look I think if you feel that a product is missrepresented then report it, go fo it... The point I'm trying to make ( and probably going of the topic) is that its a big wide nasty world out there....The web, net whatever you want to call it is absolutly full to the scuppers with shysters, shonky dealers, thieves and deceptive marketers. Now irrespective of your mental capacity these scum are out to get you and unless you are "net smart" you are a target... Frankly I wince when I read about persons being ripped off simply because they did not take adequate precautions, i.e. give bank details etc to strangers..... And this happens to people with very high acedemic qualifications....
Its unfortunate but each and everyone of us has to have our brains in gear 27/7 when dealing with anything on the net, sad but true....
And dont start me on the mentally challenged ( no offence intended or implied, just an unfortunate fact of life) but I have a family of 7 of these poor buggers next to me.... I had a very interesting chat with the lady from the Salvos delivering food hampers there.... How do you think I feel as an ex serviceman, living on a pension seeing these poor buggers getting welfare??? It really gets up my nose hell they are getting over $3000 a fortnight in welfare, rent paid everything eles taken care off.... They cant hold a conversation yet they can hold a drivers licence but they dont have to register their car or insure it..... NO DONT START ME ON IT!!!!!!! and here I am a bloke who saw active service for his country living on a pension and having to pay a mortgage and no one brings me food parcels....
The world chaps is full of crooks and cheats, take your thumbs out of your bumbs, put your brains into gear and get on with life...

Oh hell some bugga has knocked my soap box over....

The world is full of crooks..............yes

Do we accept it? yes or no

Bear in mind if the crooks take over there will be no innovation or nothing new only cheap copies

I put it to you that there are more dishonest people, or should I say those who would decieve if given the oportunity selling on Ebay than there are honest, well meaning sellers. I'm talking the persons who make a living out of selling on Ebay, not just the occasional punter selling a bit of excess stuff off...
And Yeah the crooks have taken over, the entire chinese economy is based on selling copies of other "branded" products. Dont dimiss them as "cheap copies", well some of them are but most are simply reverse engineered products... Where are engines for Mecedes benz actually made? in the same factory as Kia and Hyundai cars....
Yep its cheating but its done with the impramatur of consumers and governmnets world wide....

But isn't it all driven by avarice - on our part and from the manufacturers and sellers. The latter two are the biggest shysters of the lot and they do it legal. And what is legal - only what our represntatives deem it be.

Quite so.... And ultimatley we are to blame because we elect those who represent us. However we elect them based on what we are told just prior to the elections because we the voting public cast our votes simply to get the best deal we think we can. The chivalrous days of governments providing service are long gone, these days it is as the famous Captain Smith said... "its every man for himself". The shareholders rule.... yes Avarice ( what a lovley word in 2011) always carries the day....

Chaps - a quick Moderator input.

By all means discuss the merits of eBay and whatever they do or don't do to prevent advertising breaching the applicable UK codes on the subject. A debate at a general level is fine.
However, we are NOT going to go down the route of debating whether a particular manufacturer's products should be allowed to be sold or not. We've been there, done that and none of the positions so clearly stated on previous occasions appear to have changed on either side.

Clear? Good. Thank you. 8|

Is LGB still made? if so where? I had a look under my Bachmann Toastrack which I thought was American, holy snapping duck poo its made in China, along with the Pirrelli tyres I just bought.....
My appologies chaps I tend to get a tad intense at times, its the Agent orange..... or maybe the Agent provocateur....

Fortunatley the mods on this forum dont see themsleves as psudo gestapo types. Robust discussion is the salt of any forum worth its salt. As Horace Rumpole told Hilda " I dont agree with much that you say Hilda but I'll defend to the death your right to say it"

For the record I'd like to know if Ebay actually stop the miscreants using the LGB name when refering to that which is not LGB...... I'd think too that if LGB were informed then they too would jump on Ebay from a high place.... I guess we will have to wait and see what happens because I doubt that they will contact anyone and admit they were in error, that would open a pandoras box of litigation...

When i objected to Ebay they confirmed reciept of my message and stated that they cannot give details of thier subsequent actions.

I'm not adding to merits of item desctription, or brand, I will add to the ebay privacy policy.

I recently had some fraudulent credit card transactions. I knew they were not mine as they were not trains, and were in Ireland. I reported this. The card was stopped. A few days later I phoned the same card company and asked if they knew how my card had been compriniesd so Imight avoid the place. I was told they cannot tell me as it is a private matter between the card company and the police.

After the long example, We are only the customer. The seller (or company) have privacy the same as an individual, and need to protect from competiotion causeing them problems. Competition can be underhanded and all companies can fall foul which is why they protect privacy so much. be it either multinational credit card organisations, or a seller on ebay.

If we don't like the privacy a company demands as customers we can vote with our feet and try another company (or seller).

I had an identical experience. The card company spuriously quoted the Data Protection Act.
I checked with Data Protection who confirmed that in such cases the Act does not apply. I got no further though. Fortunately it did not cost me anything or I would not have allowed it to be ignored.
A few years ago my wife had a large amount of cash stolen. She was sure she failed to put it in her bag at the bank till and someone had pocketed it. When we asked to see the CCTV tape we were told once more that the Data Protection Act did not allow it. What utter nonsense!! Why have CCTV if it cannot be viewed to check for an offence?

When I pointed out the fact to STO models (the seller) they replied 'Ha Ha, Naughty Naughty - dont buy it then'. Not the sort of reply I expect from a reputable retailer.

What did you expect them to do, say "oh were so sorry" and burn them?

If they have them legally then they have the legal right to sell them, PERIOD.
This is so easy. If you dont like the cars, dont buy them - others will, if you dont like the shop for selling them, dont buy there - others will.

This is getting really really old.

Surely the only voice Ebay should listen to is that of the brand owner. If the brand owner can't be bothered to complain then I can't see Ebay taking action.
