Misleading description

I think you missed the point Vic. I did not question the legality of the sale. I pointed out that I recieved a rude reply to my polite enquiry.
 
Alan, then if you felt slighted by them its your choice to repay them in kind by not purchasing anything from them, my reading of the reply was that its wasn't so much as rude but very cheeky and I can see your point if it ruffled your feathers. The reply you got is alot nicer than the verbal yell down I once got from a train shop owner for daring to question him...havent been back to that store in 4 years now, let'em rot. ;)

Well, rude or not, they've at least made a small concession to the matter in their latest listing.....

I saw one item for sale on ebay that got the better idea with the search engines. Basically it was something like: 'item dscription (not LGB, USA TRAINS or BACHMANN)'. This lets the item be brought up in a search, but clearly lets all know that it is not a particular brand.

Ah, but the word 'not' or 'like' is not acceptable to ebay.
I had an item pulled (some years ago now) for putting the word 'like' in a discription
Ebay said it was a breach of their description policy.
So as a test, I just put the word 'like' in the description search
I came up with hundreds of listings using the word.
One that seems to be acceptable to ebay is 'LGB Scale'
Now is that a debateable subject :bigsmile:
