New beginnings

Today my newest and oldest loco received name plates.

Firstly, here's my oldest loco. The solid orange colour was what suggested the name Kimberly to me. (Let's see if anyone gets that reference.)

And here it is passing a tram stop that incidentally just got a name plate too. (Dorpsstraat is, approximately, Town Street or Main Street.)

And this is my latest acquisition . It is now named Brammert, after a villain of North-eastern Dutch folklore.

Gordon and Gordon were eager to pose for the photo shoot, but we found that this won't work. I mean, how will they even communicate?

It looks like I may have to employ some 7/8th staff in the future.
A 1:w24 bo to stand on will work.

Today I completed Route Two, and at this milestone I'd like to look back for a moment.
It's been a year now since I began to build this tramway. Only one year ago, this whole garden was a messy and neglected place.
Now it is a place I always want to return to whenever I'm not home. It may still look messy to some, but for me, it's a dream I've had for decades and that I've now made a reality.

Thanks to y'all for being here, and for sharing your encouragement.

I'd not seen that switch over track in picture 5 before?

Very interesting....

Now that you mention it, I think you're right: I haven't shown it here till now.
I couldn't get the combination of the two gauges right without one. It has no moving parts, and works very smoothly. Another Modellbau Heyn product, like most of my dual gauge track.

Yes, Bertram Heyn has some interesting stuff.

It's a shame he doesn't come to the UK anymore since Brexit....

As in, doesn't ship to the UK? Is that what you're saying?

I recently found that DKL in Falkirk doesn't ship to the EU. I'd have liked to have a few of their houses along my town street.

He does ship to UK. I've brought from him since Brexit.

But he was at one of the garden railway shows in Wales a few years ago. That's when I met him in person.

Nice chap....
