It is a nice locomotive, the sound on it is probably the best of any in my fleet.I'm still unrepentantly jealous of that Nohab. Fortunately, even if I could afford one, it would be the wrong scale![]()
Took me a while - We're making plans for NigelExtension completed. For now. Took a train ride to Scarborough the other day to obtain track from PS. Testing complete today with the longest stock. Clearance is tight, but fine with the longest stock I have. Nigel was observing proceedings.View attachment 341003View attachment 341004View attachment 341009View attachment 341006View attachment 341007View attachment 341008
That's his happy face.... You should see his angry face l!Come, come, Nigel does more than "observe", he raises the whole tone of proceedings and in the first picture of him it looks very much as if you have rudely intruded on his thoughts.
That's a vent to provide cross-ventilation underneath your floor. I assume the floor is concrete beam and block. After not being entirely happy with the ballast around the wall breathing vent, I am now very happy. Bit of wood, bit of postcrete, and happy.

Ahhh yes, I've made sure that the railway does indeed never go higher than the DPC, and all the vents are indeed clear for air to flow. That's a vent to provide cross-ventilation underneath your floor. I assume the floor is concrete beam and block.
The little plastic weepholes in the perp joints on the next course are to allow any moisture in the cavity to drain away, which would indicate that the course where the cables are clipped is DPC.
Notwithstanding, always keep vents at ground level open, so that they can do the job they were designed to do
The purists would argue that the railway is too high in relation to the DPC, but with the type of construction you have there, I would suggest that there's nothing to worry about - don't let it go above the DPC anywhere.
agree, dont close or obstruct them.Notwithstanding, always keep vents at ground level open, so that they can do the job they were designed to do![]()
The extension looks great! Land grabs are always exciting, but didn't you say earlier that there was some legal impediment to using the driveway? Not critical, just curious about regulations in other countries. And of course a little train. It's about all I can get out at the moment. The stock cupboard is blocked by bathroom tiles and general decorating stuff....

It's technically mine, on a shared driveway. So long as no obstruction caused, and it runs off drive for the most part along the gravel soak away. The extension looks great! No worries, they're all open, none have been blocked up.agree, dont close or obstruct them.
In this setup even rainwater will go under your floor.
there will be not enough air/wind flow under your floor to prevent fungus or buildup of moister, even if with a concrete floor you should keep them open.

Sorry i have been into the construction too long. no hard feeling i hope i did not offended you.
But M A N what a nice work did you dowith your garden.
Gotta love them technicalities. I think they're international. Always help with a good land grab. It's technically mine, on a shared driveway. So long as no obstruction caused, and it runs off drive for the most part along the gravel soak away.
Wy aren't the bathroom tiles and general decorating stuff in the stock cupboard until needed with the door blocked by the rolling stock? And of course a little train. It's about all I can get out at the moment. The stock cupboard is blocked by bathroom tiles and general decorating stuff....
