How about cutting it lengthwise diagonally, the shape of a railway embankment. That way you can't dump stuff there anymore.Next up must be that shelf where all manner of bits and bobs just get dumped. Getting tricky to pull out the draws for small parts now. This is a dumping ground that is constantly being abused and used. Must find a way to resolve that
Hm Jimmy is getting serious about Live Steam I see!
My workbench has been busy marking out, cutting and scribing 3mm Foamboard. Note that back shelf is getting junked up again, it even has a Gauge 1 Terrier sat on it, you can just make out the buffers at the left.

Well if that Terrier is junk, chuck southwards, I'll do my best to catch it!
I'm planning something similar, just need to be able to nick some suitable wood. I hope Mr Jones doesn't mind his ideas being nicked! For those of you are 16 mm Association members you will have seen Gareth Jones' "Servicing Caddy", and it seem to fit the bill for my needs, not built exactly to his drawing, but to meet my needs:

My ‘room’ is also the dump for all stuff family related that no one wants to throw away, but doesn’t know what to do with it...
The Thorley Minatures signal box is nearly complete. Just some touching up, adding some details (block instruments, wall clock, signal man’s newspaper!), a spray or three of varnish and then final gluing of windows etc., and she’s ready to be installed on the line. Solar powered from and adapted garden light. Signal box details from the late lamented Back2Bay6.

Indeed it is, anything made out of metal tends to stand head and shoulders above a plastic midel.Sounds like my shed,
But I did a little repair indoors - there comes a time in the life of the Accucraft brass models when the glue that they use to hold the window glass in gets like the rest if us, old and knackered, and the glass falls in, often with the aid of an errant thumb.
So I've been sticking a couple of windows back in. While tac prefers the Bachmann plastic version due to its detailed interior, I still think the Accy brass caboose is a thing of beauty
