What happened at your workbench today?

I do believe Paul M thinks that is an amazing piece of modeling. Don't you agree.....:giggle:

Well at least I'm letting my feelings be known!:rofl::rofl:
Truth is that the Internet was acting up, and I didn't realise that my pressing the reply button had actually sent it each time. Fortunately, this isn't the Post Office, so I won't have to repay thousands of pounds, lose my good (ha) standing in the community or going to prison for a few years.

Truth is, he wants to be top poster but hasn't read the small print where it says "duplicate posts don't count".

Back to the Baldwin. The more I have looked at completing the rebuild, the more I have realised that the loco has been stripped of lots of details. So this afternoon I made new smoke box door darts, adjusted the front coupling, added side chains and fabricated a new blower pipe.

I found that my spare LGB points control box had 3 of the 4 rocker switches non-functioning. Replacing them was not really an option, as they were soldered firmly into the PCB, even if I could source exact clones. So this week, between the interruptions of real life, I converted the box into something I could use on the bench, when servicing and testing point motors. My old H&M Duette's nominally 12VDC Accessory output is actually 15.7V and so I used that rather than faffing about to rectify the AC supply, and used a 6800μF capacitor and momentary DPDT switches to provide control of up to 3 motors, plus a bonus DC output using the old white/black terminals. I removed half the original PCB, retaining the back half and terminal block and replacing the green LED, which conveniently seems to empty the capacitor when switched off, if I forget to drain it with a last motor 'flick'. Not exactly neat, of course, but since it is all hidden in the box, I'm not too embarrassed as it does the job.

To be honest, it would have been a strange system that didn't have that facility, but what seems to have been lacking was an audit trail of any such activity.

The systems that I have used, all have an audit log, even for 'super users' - so you can always see who has done what, and that allows the normal questions to be asked.

I tend to use a thin pair of pliers to squeeze (not too hard) the front 'pip' and a flat-bladed screwdriver to press on the horizontal bit..

They are blumin' difficult, though..

Managed a quick pic of my latest project, thought it was finished, but turns out the the charger can’t see the battery so won’t charge it.

It’s taken several months, was only supposed to be a quick fitment of a 12v led, to see when the loco is turned on, as I killed the last battery by leaving it on for several months . . .

What sort of charger, whet type of battery pack? Answers may be able to help diognosis of the problem.

Yep - I recently nearly killed the 6S Li-Ion pack in my shunter. I now have a flashing red LED and a buzzer to let me know if the battery gets to <3.1V!

And here i am....sigh...looking jealous at all of your projects.... sigh(again)
I am still working and putting some mortar in-between my bricks....and trying to finish my house and garden......sigh....
(Who the heck invented the "snij voeg" the one with shades....)

Gents i love all your pics and projects, so dont get me wrong, you put the bar high, even before i start.... sigh....
Compliments to you all...my time will be soon there/here!

With best regards Igor

Every chemistry has its own problems, and every chemistry has it own solutions....AND every chemistry has its own needs......
