Woher bekommen Sie diese tollen Figuren?
The figures are part of the Short Staff range sold by Model Earth deign(7/8ths scale) and Roundhouse Engineering(1/19ths scale). Both sellers can be found by Googling their names, or just search for Short Staff figures.

Work continues, albeit slowly, on the cattle dock for Gernise End on the Claptowte Railway. Since my last post, I have added some wooden battens to the ramp to stop the beasties slipping and sliding when the slope is wet and slippery. The battens are cut from wooden coffee stirrers and stained with dilute black paint. The bolt heads are 1.0mm self adhesive pearl gems.

Next I have completed the posts for the stock fencing. The posts are lengths of 10.0mm square strip wood. Each post will support five rails. I made a jig from scrap plasticard to ensure that, when drilled, all holes were correctly spaced and that the rails would line up. Hinges where created from plastic tube and garden wire. The postes here are not yet fixed, just posed for the photograph. Posts then given a couple of coats of matt white.

Work on going with the 2 coaches, just out of the paint shop

Stock posts and rails all fitted to the cattle dock, I think painting the rails is going to be a bit like painting the Forth Bridge.

Three more 7/8ths vans have arrived at the CFR. They have been in the paint shop to have primer applied:-

Two box vans and a guards van from the ModelEarth basic range.

In between running trains, drinking mugs of coffee and generally putting the world to right with my mate Richard I got a little more painting and weathering done on the vans:-

A little more weathering needs to be applied, then I will get on varnishing the vans.

With so many scales using 32mm and 45mm track it can be very confusing if you are not familiar with the product. It's worth noting that 7/8" to the foot scale. This is 1:13.7 Scale so is larger than conventional 16mm or G scale.

My best effort to help our forum members unfamiliar with 7/8th scale.

Its actually a very nice size to play with, also being close to 1:12, there's lots of bits that can be butchered from dolls houses.

Today I have started building this monster, PIKO model 62035.

IMG_20201222_141059.jpg

It takes up most of the workbench.

Black duct tape to hold the pieces in place while drying. Strong and sticky enough, and as long as you remove it within an hour or two no sticky residue. Still another storey to go.

I can recommend this glue. POLA p/n 330593. The tubes are quite large (50ml) enough to build a couple of models. About £6 on eBay at the moment.

Spent the day down the Pub again  still a long way to go, still got a few timber frames to print for the rear upper floor. Not decided on what shape door yet or what color windows to have  but I can keep printing the windows, at least they fit the holes and will be watertight now once they have some clear plastic in them . The Pub / Inn name still thinking about that.

Only one cardboard box was harmed in the making of this :D so FAR.....

I've been setting up a shuttle to run a short train by the Chrimble Tree....

Casey, If I send a few dozen unpainted figures to you will you paint them for me?;)

More seriously, actually not much more - at the rate you've been cranking them out you can't be short staff(ed) any more!

After more stops than starts I am finally getting around to modifying Bachmann Claribelle, Annie and Emily coaches to something vaguely resembling GN coaches to run behind a modified Emily. Even slower going on that part of the project. :(
After hunting endlessly for a spirit varnish to emulate teak I had to give up and use Revell Reddish Brown acrylic. which had been sitting next to me throughout! It still needs varnish which I am hoping will show up the gold lining better. Handrails are still needed.
I have more or less given up trying to create the correct roof shape. All efforts to carve wood, shape balsa or plastic sheet have met with failure.
The difficulty of seeing materials and paints “in the flesh” due to Flu has not helped progress.

If you do find any sticky residue Lighter Fuel is a great resource for removing it, also helps with labels that shops insist on putting the view side of anything that you buy. Causes no damage as it evaporates pretty quick. Have a tin in my workshop and shed, also a great cleaning aid for just any old crud.
