What happened at your workbench today?

Just dawning on me....
Are the Sword Dancers Turkish?

I know we have just had Christmas, but I would have thought Google would have done better than to keep serving up adverts in Turkey - ish?

I keep getting a dodgy geezer holding up a Turkish passport??

Even we learnt about Cossacks at school! Particularly their horse riding skills!

Fitted up a test rig for the Loco I bought from the Forum a while back, just need to stuff it all in now. So much for clearing up the workbench yesterday, but at least it meant that I could do this job.

Last day of bloody 2020 endet bloody for me. Had been in my workshop. Was finishing with my works. Only my milling machine rolled out. And than I did a stupid thing. I'm allways tell my friend, not to touch the rotating milling, befor it comes to stillstand. ... But me stupid I tried to clean the a small a plastic pipe and used my finger. Autsch!

3 hours later, my female friends sent me to the hospital. The small wound, the millinmg cutter went through the bed of nails, didn't stop bleeding. So I got this beautiful bandage and then celebrated the beginning of the new year 2021.

Theirs getting less Playmobil in my Inn and more and more Printed parts, along with foam board inserts, all the second floor will be printed now , along with the gable ends and some roof parts as I decided I didnt like the Playmobil roof  that was not the intention but you change one bit then another and so on and so on  The Church is waiting for a warm sunny dry day so it can have the matt sealer sprayed on it , so its joined the painting queue.

The recently completed Cattle Dock for Gernise End Station, on the Claptowte Railway, was the last of my planned scratch built scenic structures for the line. Father Christmas has delivered to me a Kippo Models Station Building and a Toilet Block, a British Outline Coal Office from GRS and a Signal Box by Thorley Miniatures. It is my intention to assemble and prime all four buildings (if I can ever get to Halfords again for some grey primer), before I attempt to paint any brickwork. I intend to paint the brickwork on all four models at the same time for continuity of finish/appearance. My aim will be to replicate the appearance of the 1/24 scale brick paper that I used on the Yard Crane, Goods loading Dock and the recently completed Cattle Dock. Given that I don't have the necessary paints, this is going to be a long job. I also have six of seven items of rolling stock to build, so I will not be idle while waiting to finish the buildings.

I finished my Cathedrals of Steam book. Very light but interesting read. If you're interested in the early years of railways, especially around London, its worth a shufti. Not many pictures I'm afraid, and sorely missing a suitable map, but it does give some odd facts and figures

Had 5 mins in the shed, considering what projects todo in the current situation.

started measuring up for a future project,
I’ve had a sylvanian tram tucked for a future project, and it shows a lot of potential.

was thinking of either a DMU, or some sort of observation coach based around a newquida coach body.

That tram looks great, although the wheels might need a tad amount of work

Never seen one of those, certainly would have got one for a conversion as you are doing. Would look good mounted on an non working Bachman Tram chassis if you had one.

Started building a Bowaters Isle of Man Small F coach at the weekend, just fitted the buffer beam and step supports,

DSC_0071.JPG

and the last 2 days after work trial fitted the bogies I got, they needed a bit of trimming on the corners, the step supports also needed recessing to allow it to go around the R2 minimum radius. Test run tomorrow, if it's not too cold

That's a pretty long coach for R2s.

If it weren't an etched kit (and I can see the cut-outs in the sideframes) I'd have suggested moving the bogie pivots inboard by up to 25mm each.

What are the feet & inch dimensions of an R2? My small F handles a 4ft radius curve with prototypical bogie centres...
