What is / Was your favourite G Scale loco?

Interesting to note that (understandably I think) Bachmann's Logging locos are gaining a lot of 'likes' on this thread

Yes Steve, they seem to be a favourite or a well liked loco by many G scalers, even those who just do European.
The first Bachmann 1:20.3 shay appeared in 1996, only being preceded by the Lyn (the first 1:20.3 loco built by the company, with the Climax appearing in 2000 and the Heisler arriving in 2003

The Shay always fascinates...
(This one from young SteveLewis some time ago via GSM & still going strong, thanks.)

but the Corpets are so cute...
(My attempt to brighten the room after my wife commented how bare it looked after the xmas decorations were put away.)
(It didn`t last.)

Sorry, still haven`t got the hang of posting piccies!

Nice to see it again, thats probably the one that used to take 11 mins to do a circuit of my old garden line!

:) Was running my Climax on Sunday, and my wife commented that it was running 'very slow'. Took some explaining that it was alright. :-\

Now that I`m rationalising my collection, I have a great respect for LGB in getting me into this hobby. I love the quirkiness of the LGB Steeple cab electric loco. I will never sell that or my old Stainz. I also really like my Lyn but never had good enough track to run it. That`s why my new line will be just a flat loop with no R1s.

My favourite though is my first live steamer, my Regner Konrad. Simple, slow and goes on for ages. Just like me! :)

;) Some of us have 'taste'......

Pity the Heisler is such a hard to come by/buy beast these days.

Probably my USA Trains Hudson - it's such a heavy (47lbs) and powerful loco and will pull anything put behind it, has great sound and doesn't mind dirty track.

Is now, my Trainline Green Mallet.

Was before that, my LGB Harz 2-10-2t. Still love it though.

With one exception, all my locos are Playmobil, two RC 0-4-0 tanks, two of the small red diesels, trackpowered, three track-powered 0-4-0 tanks and the works loco. The exception is an LGB Spremberger. My favourites are the 0-4-0 tanks and the Spremberger.

My favourite is usually my most recently built loco - which at present is the little IP Engineering Simplex. But I also like this because I am particularly pleased with the weathering effect which I tried out on this one for the first time.

Surprisingly it also runs well and as it has the most recent Deltang rx it is very controllable.

Although I have already voted for my C19....I have had a deeper thought and had a slight revision of choice....if that is okay with the management Steve?

I would like to now say that my Kiss K36 and my Aster/LGB K28 are probably my favs but due to their propensity to be more shelf queen than heavy duty runner, I had passed them over.

My K28 in action at Richie`s open day:

A Stainz or 3

And more on the way

I suppose big haulers are my favourites ever since I decided to go down the American route ;D

So number one has to be the Bumble Bee (my first purchase) - kept operable by hook or by crook;

Loco Roster (7).JPG

And SWMBO has her favourite too;

Loco Roster (4).JPG

I have to keep that going too!

And I have just added another two to my stable this week!

Edit: Oops wrong pic (should have been #14 not #4 :-[

It has to be my MAGNUS modified Saxon Mayer 99 545 this loco was sent to Ruegen where it gained air braking gear. Pictures of said Loco are on the MAGNUS website. Do not ask me to upload pics as I am virtually computer illiterate

My favorite G scale loco is Playmobil 5258 RC diesel because

1. It is cheap (costs less than £100 instead of £900-£1000+ range)
2. Has good details
3. Easy to buy from with a choice of retailers
4. If it doesn't work, easy to return (my first one was faulty so Amazon replaced it)
5. You get sound and light built in (no need to pay extra)
6. Children can play with it
7. It runs on plastic as well as LGB tracks
8. It uses standard AA batteries
9. The remote is small - not big like Locoglyde etc.
10. It has good hauling power

What not to like? :)

:ocorpets? mallets? saxiionmeyers, v200.v52? the posablitys are endless.. i have locos that i love to reun.. some not as much but i still like them.. but after all said and done.. there is one loco that i couldnt run a garden railway with out..
its not prity, its not flash, or expensive.. but its reliable, it has performed well over the years, and its a very usefull loco.
so in asnwer to the question, there can only be one, imho.....
