Just a man in the middle of a complicated plan.
A train arrives, the wait is over...........
was he on it?, with baited breath we waited, like a scene from the Railway Children, for the picture to clear, is it Mike or Donald Sutherland?
The train departs and case in hand Mike has arrived.
Mike is introduced to I. Thrashem by his mate E.Burnem before stowing his big case in the station masters office and going on a trip on the line.
On the branch train, He is treated to a double departure and stereo full chat from the chimneys from the balcony of the first coach.
I.Thrashem doesn't disappoint and they are soon rattling along over the manhole bridge and down the bank.
The return trip was made on the footplate, Thrashem ain't bothered about who should or shouldn't be on the footplate, but stay on my side mike, don't want the stationmaster to see to much
Mike is taken aback as a large diesel drops into the station,
Before getting the nod from the guard to have a trip in the van and sample a bit of Maybach noise,
At the end of the day, Mike was shown to his hotel and got a lift in E.Burnems classic car, before being invited to the railway staffs Oktober Fest that evening....... could be a late one Mike

Mike, unsurprisingly, was up late the following morning and things where a bit different, first there was Kippers for breakfast and deciding to walk to the station to clear his head, he was sure he saw a cat with no tail, most odd.....
However on arrival at the station, well the coaches were still red and cream and the loco green but..........
E.Burnem had to hold his mate back when he heard Mike say his engine look a little quaint,
Mike apologised and explained that he meant it in an admiring way I.Thrashem decided to show him just what the "little" engine could do, After backing the loco up on the train they showed Mike to his compartment before saying their goodbyes
Mikes overnight journey was by nightmail, at the Warrington Hub 325005 was waiting to take him south.
Mike admired the controls before taking his seat to London.
Some 3 hours later, Mike was pleased to see the lit arch above Wembley Stadium, wonder how England are getting on he thought.
He bid farewell to his driver and host and disappeared into the night looking for a ride to sunny south west
