Eighton Bahn AKA testing testing RhB

That point should be repairable Nod?

If the brass screw is broken and needs drilling out, send it to me and I'll sort it....

Ok, I am convinced a repair is an option, so the point will be heading off to Gizzy soon.

It's what gets me about here, people allways only too happy to help out.

I like the concrete sleepers Gordon. Neat. ;)

From the same source as your "Y" ones, Alan.

Bought 5 packs of 50, so still have a few left.

A recent E bay purchase, has been opened up to add the usual modifications..

Need more people to populate this one.

...er no, came from the UK a place on the West Coast, well known for the tide going out way, way beyond the pier.

But the description was.....

Post this morning returned this...

Point repaired courtesy of Gizzy.

in addition more passengers arrived as well, so they have been stuffed into a coach,

with 10 looked a bit under occupied, now 20, maybe a bit OTT.

Do you use heat-cured glue, Gordon? ;) :D ;D ;D

Seriously, how do you secure figures?

Am I right that, assuming it is done tastefully, the addition of metal wheels, figures, and lighting are three mods that will NOT reduce the value of an item??

Only added the figures, metal wheels and lights are standard.

Have a hot glue gun to stick them in with, but have to watch out for it stringing, others have suggested clear bathroom sealant, talking of which, one of them is standing outside the bog door, maybe not that tasteful a pose ;)

Do modify some of them, as to avoid, all the sameness, only 10 different figures, nowt special, just use pens to change colours, (After all how many blokes do you see with white shoes on?)
vary the positions so that same ones are not too close together, then add things like books, newspapers, laptop etc. that I print out.

Other coaches the same, as in

better for it gorden..

A chance discovery on the interweb thingy the other day has inspired another project, or previous upgrade/upgrade.

When I fitted a Auto Coupler to the Stainz I noted that the front coupler required the gearbox to be cut into, something that I am not entirely confident to do.

However I found a picy on the web whilst looking for something else, and followed to a link..

http://stummiforum.de/viewtopic.php?t=65319

Now its in German, but quick translation thingy later I had an English version. The gist of it is that in addition to all the electronic bits, he installed a Massoth Coupler, to the front of the loco,
by moving it forward by 6.5 mm, this saving cutting into the gear box.

Now as they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and I feel more confident in adding a coupler this way, this morning out came the Stainz, drill, files, coupler and one of Muns adaptors.

So after a couple of hours work, we have...

20150701_111030 (900 x 675).jpg

20150701_105419 (900 x 675).jpg

20150701_131102 (900 x 675).jpg

...Auto Couplers on both ends, bench test show they are working, and more importantly so is everything else, just need to do a running test.

Update....

Minor track issue aside (Dip in track where it comes off the bridge, has needed lifting/packing.) one of those "round tuit" jobs I knew about, causing the loco to uncouple both fore and aft.

Major issue was the interruption in proceedings on account of a combined Thunder, lightning, hail and rain storm. (Someone up there has it in for me, i`m sure.)
But for a while it was 10 degrees cooler.

It`s all now hunky-dory, and the added bonus is that dip has been sorted as well, FOGOF ??? deal as it were.

After the straightforward-ness of today, giving serious thoughts to doing something in the same style to the Kroc.
(Prepare for something akin to the Plagues of Egypt coming soon ;D)

Looking back at this rubbish, that I post, and realising it's almost a year since the last instalment, better bring things up to date.

The plagues of Egypt, have not occurred, well not exactly.

Decided to a test pantograph remote install on the baggage coach, following the purchase of a new roof.

That was how it was supposed to go, however it has not gone to plan.

It was all going to plan, until problems with the function chip cropped up, as reported and solved here.

https://www.gscalecentral.net/threads/massoth-8fs-servo-decoder-question.306718/

So now with the aid of one of the "Aardvark" electronic packages, its up and running.

It has not been all doom and gloom.

Problems with Swmbo's on/off hospital admission, (As reported elsewhere.) got me involved with the local carers association again, more for advice than anything else.

Part of which involved, a have you had your something for yourself grant. Something which I did not know existed.

So in co-operation with Mark, at GRO., this arrived.

Gordon,
A couple of things.

Plants in Pots, mroots will spiral downwards when/if they get out. Tends to keep plants smaller. Another option is to plant in the pot but in another pot so you can trim the roots a Bonzai Trick. Use some Barrier in the second one to discourage roots escaping. Some Fine Gravel "Horticultural Pink Grit" is the stuff. Not really Pink. This will act as a good Mulch to help stop them drying out too much. Your site does look quite open. Grit good Ballast Too.

Re your fiddle yard, you can remove a little from Points to make the Sidings closer, might have solved your Side Swipe issues. It is how I got 5 sidings where only 4 would fit on Srptandard LGB 3 Points.

That Rock, just waiting for a new extension.

Funny you should mention the e word.

Spent part of yesterday planning the next phase., well more of a laying track out in the garden, actually, as there is no plan.

Sort of decided to make a plain oval, but with a meandering passing loop, if you get my drift.

Whilst I have plenty of straights, what I don't have is enough curves.

So spent an hour or so last evening, making some R3 ish curves out of straights, four of them. Bending, cutting and drilling/tapping rail ends for fishplate screws I know its sounds odd, but I have a number of R3 sleeper bases, and a large number of USA/Aristo track with US/Std. gauge sleeper bases I want to change over anyway. Still have a few bases to use up.

Today heralded the arrival of a box, which contained a kit of parts to make......

P1020157.JPG

Now when I say a box, it was a large box, so there was room for something else.

P1020158.JPG

Something familiar.....

P1020159.JPG

yep a brace of them....

P1020161.JPG

....at this stage, I may go with a double length rather than a single one, jury is out on that FTM.

I love the idea of two in a row,
Last year I was over at Kentkeiths and he has put three Trainline bridges into one unit - Brilliant result in my humble opinion.
DSC06255 (Small).JPG

Those Train Line Bridges are pretty good and I reckon excellent value. Will last a lifetime though the LGB ones are pretty robust as well. A friend of mines are about to be moved on to their third layout, only thing that has happened to them is for the Plastic to have gone a lighter shade of grey.

TL bridges are made of steel so will need the occasional repaint. But, yes, should last a long time.

looking good gorden
