Today another running session, whilst I tried and failed to install the point decoders, don't ask, seriously, don't ask!!!

Anyhow it started with a nine coach train...

...or to put it another way, all of them.

Then it went from there...

It does, just not as a whole train...

...but, without all the freight stock.

Finally got the point modules installed today, even numbers at one end of the station, odds at the other, may not be the best idea I have had but works for me, and that is all that counts.

...one box under the Station building, the other hidden (Not that well.) between the dwarf conifers.

IMG_20180701_122511.jpg

...also had to repair one of the lamps that has suffered from some unwanted attention over night...

IMG_20180701_122916.jpg

...and no it wasn't a certain Border Terrier...quick repair with a piece of heat shrink, it may be an improvement over the washer base, on the others...

Then a running session, with all my stock...

...still carn't get my head around the route setting up, must be doing something wrong with the navigator.

Anyhow that is my report for today, if you don't like what I have posted, and apparently some don't, in other parts of the forum, then sod you!!!

(and if that gets me in trouble with the Mods, then so be it.)

Edit...

Have got to grips with the route settings, with my perverse logic...

Route 1 is from point 1 to the main platform, with point 2 switched to divert train running in opposite direction from main platform.
Route 2 is the opposite of route one.

Others are paired up in the same way...

Routes 3 & 4 for through line.

Routes 5 & 6 for Island platform inner.

Routes 7 & 8 for Island platform outer.

Then finally route 15, main line to MPD, and 16 main line to "darlo" branch (shed) line.

You may be confused, but it works for me.

May even get some ballast down next...

Never could get to grips with the DCC (LGB) Concepts of setting up Point Motors so gave up the ghost on that preferring my Air System. Oh I always like your posts!

Have had to re visit my switch routes set up today, thought it would be available to my other Navigator, but it appears not to be the case.
So had to manually enter the set ups on the older unit.

Any excuse to get a loco out...:)

Been a while since I checked into this thread Gordon, I thought I'd been keeping current through the coffee lounge but I didn't realise just how much overall progress you had made - that's outstanding! Don't ask me about route setting for points though - mine all require the driver or fireman to hop out and change them manually.....

FWIW the dislike button has now been disabled so that avenue for idiots to express themselves has been removed. They'll still turn up from time to time of course but at least now they'll have to post and identify themselves if they want to disparage somebody.

It's looking pretty good. I really like the way your staton and platform lighting has turned out. Makes me realized I've got the get back to work on my own layout!

Today let's start with the good news...

In an exercise of international co operation, managed to run a Vulkan/Rhb Express, of sorts...

IMG_20180703_185714.jpgIMG_20180703_190049.jpg

...then with the larger motive power side lined (through road actually.) No 3 took over...

IMG_20180703_190816.jpg
IMG_20180703_190853.jpg

IMG_20180703_190909.jpg

...then the bad news...

Couldn't get the front coupling to uncouple, dead as a doornail, first time in service failure of a Massoth auto coupler, (Had one fail straight out of the box, a while back.) they might occasionally hesitate but not do nowt.
But it was a good hours exercise in pulling the loco to bits and replacing the failed part, and re assembling.

Unusale failure gorden..nice fix

Wonderful set of pictures, Gordon - having followed the progress of the line, and all the 'challenges' over several years now via GSC, it's just great to see a variety of trains running. Stainz pulling power to the fore, I see!

Yep, I know, also forgot how easy I had made it for myself to get at the coupler adapter (One of Muns, from GRO.)
Having stuffed it in the firebox, all I had to do was remove the four screws holding the chassis to the body, and the two under the running plate for those valvegear bits.
Only re discovered this after I had removed the front and back ploughs, the cab steps, the cab and other bits, will I ever learn, probably not.

Failed coupler is set aside, going to have a look inside sometime, to see if I can find the problem, suspect it may be a wire issue, may be a potential fixer upper.

Steve

I am not bothered by criticism, constructive or otherwise, or a mistake in posting.
However when as in the incident in question, someone crawls out of the woodwork having posted very little, according to their profile, hits the "dislike button" without so much as an "why", and then promptly disappears again, well it's not on, is it.

Managed to get Swmbo wheeled out into the garden today...

So while she sat at the table, with refreshments and knitting, I joined her with refreshments and a remote control...

IMG_20180708_144018.jpg

...bit of a scorched earth theme going on here...

IMG_20180708_144816.jpg

...also had to deal with two camps of unwelcome guests using cable runs as a highway...

IMG_20180708_150017.jpg

IMG_20180708_150247.jpg

...clouding over now, maybe rain, with a bit of luck, so all put to bed...

...nice to be able to wait in the shed for the trains to arrive, having set them off and the route set.

This may be the last weekend, I get to run anything, for a while, as it all has to packed away, for an event soon.

...not saying it is hot, but the coach roofs are quite warm, even with the internal lights off.

Excellent Gordon. I like the concrete sleepers too.

Concrete sleepers, I have a few...

IMG_20180714_221131.jpg

...still have to deploy approx. 50 of them.

Anyhow a final evening run, prior to the pack it all away event...
