Eighton Bahn AKA testing testing RhB

Brusio viaduct, yep I know of it already,I had a plan to build something using curved ridge tiles for the arches.
I was thinking more of an inclined bridge as in girder type, I know of that one that gets dismantled for the winter then rebuilt afterwards, carn't recall it's name though.
That is on the FO, the DFB has now taken over that bit of line and has the fun of pulling the bridge down and rebuilding it every year.
Vid of a model showing part of what occures.
Bit about the DFB

Well we are now under and out the other side of the bridge...

P1030496.JPG

... now because of the adjustment I had to make to the spiral to get under the bridge, it has had a knock on effect...

P1030499.JPG

...the track is out of register to link up, by thee inches horizontally and vertically, and while the base for the next section is in,, I was short of slabs for the track bed...

P1030500.JPG

...extra slabs I need to finish off the track bed now purchased, just have to halve them now...

P1030501.JPG

...will need to lift part of the horseshoe loop to compensate for the misalignment, and then close the loop.

This is going to be epic - looking forward to a cab ride video when it is all joined up :)

A cab ride may be difficult, not sure if my camera will fit through the bridges, but it's something to ponder.

More of a saga....

Today has resulted in this...

,,,a shade under 2 and a half mins., of course it means nothing, except in relation to this...

'''the time is how long it takes from a stand in the station to return back to the station at full tilt.

That's pretty impressive - now you'll have to change your strapline at the bottom of your posts

Either that, or tell SWMBO she's wrong :mask:

I think I know which one is the easier ;);)

Ah but is a garden railway ever finished.:)

See how I ducked the telling Swmbo she is wrong issue.:D

Nobody likes a smart**** but I get your drift.

However, a golden spike moment is always a winner for a garden railway.

BTW, as mister non feeling, fat fingers here is now, well has been for a while struggling with maintaining certain type of rail clamps.

I have today gone for a one tool maintenance method rather than three...

...Massoth clamps replacing these...

Mine are all Split Jaw, but I take your point about one tool.

Looks good, appears the challenges, trials and tribulations have been beaten into submission!

Re, the fat finger syndrome, should you have the need or requirement for any Massoth Insulated Rail Clamps, have a few that could well be looking for a new home!

Noting your desire to have a cab ride view of your railway, do you have a dash cam? These if they have an internal battery will be small enough for your needs. If you do not have one they can be quite reasonably priced these days. Yes the quality will not be up to a GoPro but entirely adequate so long as you set it to best resolution.

Dash Cams aside, there is one heading this way, will see how this pans out, once i get my head around it. As Mr Thicko here thought that a D/C had to powered from the car leccy supply.

Well today has seen testing of a sort.

Initially to get to the bottom of juddering running, the tread mill was got out...

P1030542.JPG

...and whilst that was stationary running, so was something(s) else...

...now just to prove what goes up , must come down...

not sure what has happend here, but it was a duplicate.

So getting back to the treadmill, it works fine on that but judders like a bucking bronco out on the track.

So...

P1030576.JPGP1030577.JPGP1030578.JPG

...out came the skates, carbon brushes, motor block, rods off etc.

All because the Lady loves Milk Tray whoops sorry about that, what I was going to say, maybe the old girl needs a bit weight in the nose depts.,
However I recall once that someone had added extra pick ups to the inner wheelsets, with carbon brushes and wired through connection to the contact pins.

I could only do something to one of the bogies, as there is a whistle reed switch in the way on the other bogie.

An so after adding a pair of carbons, wires and connection up, time came for a test...P1030580.JPGP1030584.JPGP1030586.JPGP1030587.JPGP1030588.JPG

...romped it's way around, not once but twice, without a shudder.

The more observant will have noticed some blue chalk marks...

P1030536.JPGP1030537.JPGP1030538.JPGP1030540.JPGP1030541.JPG

...could this be the start of the planning of Phase III pointworks, crossovers and passing loops? Ah well you never know.;)
