more likely, 3.. as i never got anything done past the bridge/factory.. all the village is staying, albe it, renewd wood work.. its just the big hill was not makeing me smile..
 
You can get end grain brush on preservative for cuts, Its the same product as the Tanalith preservative. Its about 8 quid a liter at my local wood yard.

I put a drop of washing up liquid in the ensele to make it wetter and more penetrating.
