LGB 2012 [Update 28/08]

Re:LGB 2012

corrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:thumbup:

Re:LGB 2012

Not only the Toy Train but the little wagon in the TT set looks remarkably like a Feldbahn wagon.

Re:LGB 2012

Wow, I had better start saving!

I don't think you will be alone there, John
I do fancy the Blue 251 but not so sure on the Green Snow Plough.

Re:LGB 2012

the prices may seem better when discounted. Doesn't look like they are trying to compete with Piko on price.

Re:LGB 2012

Got my eye on the NYC Mikado!

Re:LGB 2012

Hmm. An interesting mix of prices and some quite attractive ones. The 94305 wagon and the diesel starter set look good value for money.

Re:LGB 2012

The Saxon SOEG set looks good too. Let's hope the RhB brown van isn't to the same tooling (or simply old stock re-released) as the infamous Chinese - made version which run so stiffly that we have given up on them. BTW the Toy Train single verandah-ended coach is unexpectedly useful - two of these arranged back to back just fit onto the LGB caboose chassis to make a pretty saloon (It's the third vehicle in the attached - sorry I don't have a better shot handy)

Re:LGB 2012

wow-some wonderful things indeed

there are more than a few things that have rekindled my excitement-even model types i have in new livery that will draw me
i find the new schemes as well as some packages to be really clever and desirable-for example, the blue DR v 51 diesel has an entirely different look in that scheme

i am hoping too that when discounted, and when in dollars-the prices are acceptable

there have been some real hurdles for marklin
not only chinese debts to be dealt with-but
new distributors-all of which has added 1-2 years to the return
but
even in euros -these prices look more or less reasonable-(i am asssuming that here in the US they will be in dollars-as has sometimes been the case-ie 1400 euros=1400 US dollars on the us market

and im really taken by the new RhB offering-its beautiful

the only thing that has to be done is superb quality and QC-they must have it in order to support the pricing, and, they need repair centers once again to bring the product back to its premier quality status

i will order the small blue rail truck, as i like it and can afford to buy it to see what the quality is like -an acceptable risk to start-
will be interested to see learn the paint quality as well-some of what i have seen to date have been .....not so great

Re:LGB 2012

MSRP $383 for a Porter! $383 FREAKING DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!
WTH!!!! I paid $65 US for my last Porter about a year ago :@

Well folks , Thats it for me. Between the crazies on Ebay demanding beyond MSRP for OLD WORN OUT EPL stuff and the latest prices, I have HAD IT with LGB!

With Markin being ditributed exclusively thru Walthers over here, who NEVER lists less than MSRP, I just KNEW when Marklin took over and that Walthers would be the distributor that they become so overpriced that they would become untouchable to folks like me, it has come to pass. I guess theres always Piko.
 Marklin and their  ing prices.

Re:LGB 2012

I was about to write that the pretty 30507 compartment coaches offer an alternative to the Accucraft IOM 4 wheelers , until I checked the price !!!!

Re:LGB 2012

In my memory LGB has always been expensive? These prices seem (on the whole) reasonable. I'm looking forward to seeing dates. Also to the Ik hopefully we'll see at the toy fair.

These coaches have always been pricey - even old ones on Ebay. I just checked a 1990 price list and they were over £70 then....probably all those opening doors push the price up.

..if you have a Trust Fund ;)
Beleive me, for those of us in the work-a-day world, they've gotten frighteningly expensive. When LGB plastic starts to rival Accucraft Brass, you know you've got something very wrong happening :(

I suspect you are right, however. I shall stick to my Accucraft stock
