The EJ&KLR: Austrian narrow gauge in Cheshire

Big news - my son will be born on Monday, if not before! The EJ&KLR will not be renamed, but how long before Alex has his own train?
My hunch is days, not years....

Of course, you must treat all the family equally, so you'd better get trains for your daughter, your wife (who deserves something really special for her forthcoming efforts - a Mallet perhaps?) and - just to be fair - yourself too.

Oh and a caboose for the cat.

Re:The EJ&KLR project

Peter - you made me laugh so I had to tell the wife...
Who also chuckled...

Yes Alex will be getting a Stainz at some point... no need for a whole starter set, just the engine for now will do :)

Elly has identified the Spreewald or 0-4-0 tender engine next - I was amazed, I left her infront of the LGB catalog and she overlooked all the ridiculously expensive engines and picked out two of the cheapest! Still, lottery win before I can get her one of them AND a bike for her birthday this year, so it might have to be snuck in at Christmas!

Monday is the deadline day, C-section booked now! Alex is overdue :)

Open the pod bay doors Hal......

Best wishes to all of you, but especially Mrs H.

Re:The EJ&KLR project

Thanks Shawn, looking back at these photos from last weekend I am really taken with how it is all coming together. The subtlety in the fact that virtually all my stock is now labelled up for the EJ&KLR, definitely the feeling of Austrian and Eastern European (rather than East German) narrow gauge in my eyes :)

Re:The EJ&KLR project

I got some running in today, it was nice and dry, but a touch windy...
I had been reading about the Steyrtalbahn again so the U-class seemed an obvious choice :)

Re:The EJ&KLR project

Some cracking shots there of what looked to be a pleasant running session in slightly more agreeable weather than we are experiencing down this way.

Re:The EJ&KLR project

An excellent record of what must have been a delightful afternoon. The whole layout and its environment just blend together into a perfect layout.

Re:The EJ&KLR project

Marvellous pictures James, VL 10 looks particularly well as it ambles along with the short freight. The entire garden looks good, a lovely place to spend time on a fine afternoon whilst the gnarled tree in the penultimate picture also looks good, adding texture (?) to the scene and not looking out of place or scale. Looking forward to the next installment !
