More progress has been made on the double tracking, with the onset of some good weather.

The LG&B is please to announce that the double tracking of the Quarry branch to main line standards is now complete.

The project has been completed on time and on budget, much to the delight of the Chairman of the Local Authority, who is also a LG&B Board Member and the Chief Financial Officer....

Nope, all tested successfully; two trains running in opposite directions on each circuit.

Less chance of any crashes now as there is no single track running except for the reverse chord at Quarry Junction. (Currently not powered up and awaiting installation of point motors before it can be brought into use.)

Big smiles all round.... :D

The re-instated chord from Weybourne North Junction to what was the former Quarry Branch has now been fully commissioned and wired for running in both directions.

Previously, this chord was one way only, before its removal when the LG&B updated to digital technology. With the old branch line now brought up to double track main-line standards, there was a requirement for trains heading on the Up Main Line, to be able to access the route directly to Sheringham, without the need for reversal.

Crossover No. 9 which allows Up trains onto the chord is not yet in use, so trains leaving from Weybourne South Junction will use Crossover No. 8 as the line can be run bi-directionally, although left hand running is the norm....

First train to use the re-instated chord, was V51 hauling a short freight.

It has the 'right of way' as indicated by the Sheringham Starter semaphore signal....
