Trams made in Wuppertal / G scale

Work tram 5100 is ready and I had a lot of fun to drive on the main layout in Hannover Wehmingen, 5100-3.jpg

Work tram 5100 has sound. Indicators, break light, back light, Cabin light. It runs very smooth. But there is a big problem: The red and white sign on the side, which has now also been attached to the model, says: "Only to be used on depot premises!" Am I still allowed to drive the model on the large siding, or am I only allowed to manoeuvre in the depot area?

This is a new project from my friend WIlfried. He was able to take over the LGB model from another friend. However, it was painted dark grey as a work tram. He decided to give it a more colourful paint job. It will now become a freelance driving school tram. This is what it looked like that evening.
Have a wonderful 3rd advent.

Rules are made to be broken..

So enjoy driving the model, wherever you like.
:)

Have a happy and safe Yuletide.

nice models and nice layout, I must plan a visit (welcome suggestions to convince my wife for a trip to Hannover...)

I took a photo on a small layout in the Museum Linie D in Düsseldorf. There is also a model of the same locomotive 100 there, which is an older version, or the current, rebuilt, non-running original.

Here's the Wuppertal version of the snow-free ride. (Old pictures from 2015)
There are warnings of heavy snowfall here in parts of Germany today. In Wuppertal it has just started.

Great modelling! I've put Wuppertal on my list of places to visit, other than the very obvious attraction, is there anything else of note to visit?

There was a Trolley Bus system when I last visited, not sure if it is still in existence. Nearby is another sort of Danglebahn which is not that far away, it serves a colledge and local housing estate if I remember correct. Dortmund also has Trams which I think serve this other Danglebahn at one end if I remember correct.

Here are some photos of Dortmund Trams from January 2023:

That's the Solingen system which, as far as I know, is actually expanding operations and have gone down the BOB (Batterie-Oberleitungs-Bus) route, which uses in-motion charging for onboard batteries "under the wires" for off-wire operation.
Haven't been there for several years (2009 when I look...) but they do have a preserved fleet owned by a local group...

If you are looking for somewhere to eat, I can recommend The Wuppertal Brauhaus. Beer brewed on the premisis and excellent food. Two particular atractions of the place, one, it has a working model of the schwebebahn, two, it is a former swimming pool - yes enjoy your meal in the pool (don’t worry, it has been drained).

On Wednesday I drove with my friend towards Bielefeld. There lives an other friend who is modelling trams. He has a workshop and a small layout in G scale. First we removed an unbalanced flywheel mass from the engine and then the tram ran much better. Then we had a lot of fun driving the trams. It was the day of the "rebuilt articulated trams". Here are some pictures.

And an other freelance tram. It was made from a LGB tram, painted grey as a work tram.
My friend's driving school car had its first rollout today. All the lights are installed. There is the interior lighting, destination and number plate. Brake lights and indicators. Headlights and rear lights. Unfortunately the car bucks when driving slowly. It has an old LGB drive and runs with an ESU decoder. The interior has a driving instructor's desk and three student seats with a small table. There is also a workbench. Traffic signs for the tram are on this workbench. Next to the learner there is a second driving instructor who has his own driving desk to tease the learner with. Emergency braking, faults, etc, etc. Unfortunately the decals didn't work. We are having them made now. We also need to fit two electric magnetic couplings to provide power to the tram trailers.

What a wonderful range of models you and your friends build, a real tramway in all respects in miniature. Thank you for sharing.
