Trams made in Wuppertal / G scale

Today the tram was upgraded electrically so that it can now supply trailers with electricity via the mechanical and electrical magnetic coupling.
All of my trams are still being retrofitted in this way.
Be nice to see some close up pics of how the power coupling arrangements work.

Here is the answer on how I built the electrical supply between the trams.
I drive digitally and that makes it a little easier.
All power and sidecars have an A and B side. That means all cables in the direction of travel go to the brass coupling on the right. All cables on the left go to the electrical magnetic coupling.
All trailers without brake lights are connected to the rail power in this way. A function decoder is also installed in trailers with brake lights.
I hope I could help a little.

Latest (Corona) project Ksw trailer 532. It needs some passengers and handrails inside the car under the roof and a hand line for the outside bell.

My workroom is currently the coolest room where I can be.
I am currently working on two tram trailers. Both are made for my friends. One will be a Hagen tram trailer and the other one will be a Wuppertal trailer. The Hagener has to be repainted and rebuilt. The front sections get new brake and taillights. He also gets a function decoder. The decoder is built into the Ksw trailer for Wuppertal. Unfortunately I made a mistake. The distance between the rail and the body is too great. I have to get about 4/5 mm deeper.

The former modell was a freelance museum tram. So it was labeled and painted.
I put two conductors' bells on the roof.

I removed the advertisement and the lettering.

Fortunately, I got the right front parts for this car and my friend Wilfried adapted them.

At the same time, I continued to work on the Ksw trailer. He got a decoder and couplings.

In the original, the trailer is also deeper than the tram cars.

HAnd my other friend who is workling with my help on his newest project. He allready had a frelance tram and labeld them as Wuppertal trams. But now after he made a new trailer he wants to use ist with them. A little shock occures. The coulours on the freelance trams whre different. He decidet first to scratch the coat off. We do have only photos of that tram and trailer from books. So I pushed my friend to make them more realistic. Made some drawings and a small shop made lasercuts for the things I wanted.
Her are the first results:

For this trailer he wants a new tram.
And that is the set, what will be converted.

The platform will be changed.
In the afternoon we will work on it again

Hello David.
yes, all these 3 trams are original Lgb trams. We had here in Wuppertal similar ones. The problem is that we don't have any measurements. Only some photos out of books,
40374-modellbau-lgb-05.04.2012.jpg

Also this two trams are original LGB trams. First one is a work tram 641. The further up my friend is makin is ghe same tram, when it was in passenger srevice. The second one is a passenger tram, we had only the dimensions of the distance between the axle. The seond one has front sections, what Wuppertal tram depot Heckinghausen build on their own. So that front was called Heckinghauser Front.

47160-lgb-strabreste-31.01.2013.jpg

This is the old version of the trams above. My friend WIlfried had numbered them like existing Wuppertal trams. So now it is better, when they get a more original look.

Yesterday we had a day of driving. 4 friends drove the trams. We had lots of fun. Later there was coffee and cake. The Hagen tram set also drove a test drive for the first time. Unfortunately, the train did not make an S-curve. The two wagons levered themselves off the track. The coupling receptacle was expanded with a file. Now the train drives over the R 2 tracks without any problems. Tomorrow the couolings will be adjusted so that he can also drive through R1 curves.

Peter,

Very nice to see your models and look with envy at your line.

Can you please tell me where you got the drawings for the cream livery trams, thank you?

Work tram, Atw 751 made its first attempts. It was just a first analog test. For better power consumption, it got two H0 pick up shoes, from old a Märklin rail buses. Do you have a better idea?

And sorry again. Radio in the background.

I painted the new floor unit. Now I am going to install the cabling for the decoder.

Hello David, you had some questions. The creme tram set was made in resin. But there is also a kit from Semmelbahn,

the long work tram 751 has got two motors, we call them tandem drive. I orderd them at Ed's Garten Bahn.
76999-antriebe.jpg
Aufbauwagen.jpgI do not have a drawing for the creme tram , but here is a similar one. This trams are called Aufbauwagen and different cities had them.

Peter,

Thank you for the drawing and links, I think I am going to need a bigger house and bigger garden for all the models I want to build once I have finished converting the Bachmann models I have.

Semmelbahn has some very useful links on his web site which will help, thanks.

My friend Wilfried has changed his old tram train. Now it comes pretty close to the original from Wuppertal.

78334-modellbau-2042-20.10.2021.jpg

The trailer got new windows with arches.

78338-modellbau-53-30.10.2021.jpg

Painting with an airbrush is always an adventure for me, which doesn't always turn out well.

78368-modell-53+422-11.12.2021.jpg

The direction indicators were milled from brass. The red inlay was inserted and filed. They are controlled with an MD decoder. The decorative stripe turned out a little too thick.
78373-modell-53+422-11.12.2021.jpg

Handrails are still attached to the doors.

78371-modell-53+422-11.12.2021.jpg

It will probably take a while before the two cars are ready.

The conversion of the tram is almost finished. The destination signs should be able to be changed, so they still have to be lasered. But this is a job for next year, means January 2022.
What is possible here with the models, was not possible in the original. Passenger car 53, later became the gray work tram 641.

78403-modell-53+422-29.12.2021.jpg

The trailer 429 is a bit older. This set get an other trailer as well.

78395-modell-53+422-29.12.2021.jpg

Tram 53 is nearly ready.

78379-modell-53+422-28.12.2021.jpg

Work tram 641 was a foemer passenger tram 53. Later it will get working indicators. The missing interior lighting is then also installed.

The work tram 711 is a freelance tram. Equipped with a new ESU Lokpilot 5 decoder, it can now turn on the direction indicators. When the tram is at a standstill, the brake light is switched on. Headlights and taillights, lighting of the driver's cabs and the all-round light on both sides of the roof now rotate. The indicators are also shielded. Before that, the rotating lights were equipped with a battery and a running light electronic module. It was always very annoying to switch the rotating light on and off. Before that, the rotating lights were equipped with a battery and a running light electronic module. Tram 53 is a Wuppertal passenger tram. Today he got his line numbers and destination blinds. They were printed on paper and secured with scotch tape. They are interchangeable. The line signs were lasered. Unfortunately, we found out too late that the targets could also be lasered.

And a happy new year to you, too, Peter. I look forward to seeing more of your trams in 2022.

At the beginning of April, the tram museum in Hannover Wehmingen was reopened. The LGB tramway layout was also open to visitors on Sunday, 03.04.20222.
For the event on 08.05.2022 and especially "Kleine Bahn Ganz Groß" on 11.06. and 12.06.2022, different works on the large layout going on. Among other things, a layout module was connected to the large layout. However, it still has no overhead line and some of the equipment is missing. It has one circle with three rails for 64mm trams.
"Small Trams very big" - 11.06. and 12.06.2022
The international exhibition has been held annually since 2003 and has since established itself as a fixed event for model builders. The focus on the model layouts is not on railways but on tramways and local transport and is unique in its kind and size.
Many clubs and private individuals from Germany and abroad present their models and local transport worlds. Enjoy the special flair when model trams turn their rounds, sometimes directly in front of their prototypes. Of course, the club's own H0 and gauge II layouts will also be in action. In addition to the exhibition, dealers will present their products from the field of tramway modelling.

From April, I show some pictures and a little video. Excuse the poor quality. There was no really time for that. It was allways very busy.

78408.jpg

Two work trams, didn't work. The have to got into the workshop. Grrrr...........

78409.jpg

Tram 266 in front hat got a overhault motor and had been driven after half a year very well with his new trailer 532.

78411.jpg

A view into the depot.

78413.jpg

In the middle a new 6 axle Düwag tram from Bielefeld.

78416.jpg

Here a bit closer.

78415.jpg

On the new section module, just now with no overhead line, but with a 64mm circle on three rails.

78420.jpg

And some trams are parked in other depots on the layout.

78421.jpg

Tram 275 Bochum had an accident at this corner. It lost the pantograph. fallen onto the street. Work tram 711 came for towing.

784162.jpg

And so the defect tram came back into the main depot.

78419.jpg

An overview: The new unit.

78424.jpg

And my and my friend Wilfried latest project. Trailer 422 has got new laser cutted frameworks. Still some rivets has to come.

I can't upload a mp4 video, without using youtube. I'll see what to do.

Peter, who has to go to work, right now.
