Eighton Bahn AKA testing testing RhB

This weekend has seen some developments, more slabs laid, until we ran out of cement, track laid until I starting making silly mistakes in the measuring and cutting dept.

But then again it aint all been doom and gloom.

There are a couple of vids as well, one featuring some fat bloke, (Not sure who he is!!) at one point, if/when I can get them up loaded to U Tube.

OK

Today has seen some changes in the MPD, after the delivery of a couple of R1 Points, the R3`s have been retained for further use.

More slabs laid as well, and have taken the opportunity to try out those concrete sleepers I bought a while back, their use will fit in with the story of the railway.
Trust me, I`m an Idiot!!![e]14[/e]

Whilst in silly mode, have to admit something has gone wrong with the angles, the curved point is too curved for my idea of how things will work, and will need a reverse curve to get it right again, need to re think the layout, but it`s dark, and my brain hurts so a job for another day.

Well today the Brain has been flexed, and I have sorted out the curved track problem

Before.....Curving off too much

P1000795 (900 x 675).jpg

After.....Straight

P1000797 (900 x 675).jpg

After, created another problem of suspended track and additional edging required.

So take two 40 cm sq paving slabs, cut one in half for the new straight section, then mark up the other to get a diagonal cut and three additional different sized triangles out of it.

May not get them laid this weekend, other commitments...

Looking very good indeed. Like the curved point too :D

Thats the dogs doodahs!

Where's Gordon gone? ;D

Been a long time coming but well worth the wait

way to go gorden

The passing loops will hold a five/six coach train and loco. But it`s supposed to be two platforms with a middle through running line.

Think the head shunt will need adjustment for a wider platform.

Any how today (Saturday) as it`s getting close to Sunday as I type, has seen the cementing of those cut triangles, and them some testing, with almost all my stock, bar 4 wagons.

The blue glow is the Massoth`s display inside the shed.

Finally the end for tonight.

There were some videos taken as well, for up loading to U tube tomorrow, or is that today!!

Don`t know what has gone wrong with U tube, but looks as if I carn`t up load videos to my channel, had to select a duplicate one.

More track fettling today, in light of experience, to create better/wider platform spaces.

Resulting in, from L to R.

P1000841 (900 x 600).jpg

Headshunt, Platform one face, Through/Branch line, Through Line, (Island Platform for a later development if necessary) Through Line, Platform/Station buildings.

Not too bad, seeing as it was all worked out ad hoc, dismantled, re jigged, and re assembled by 9.30 AM.

Not sure how long I can keep up this frantic pace.

Today has seen the development of some strange lumps in the trackbed.

Its all part of a gluing it down attempt, it may not work, it not plan s next...as in sod it, if it don`t stick, then it will float on the slabs.

P1000842 (900 x 675).jpg

Also tidied up the stone heap, after sifting through it yesterday for back fill, so now nature can reclaim part of the space.

Looking good Gordon....

Looks as if the gluing is a success, one failure out of twenty four, and it still needs a day or so to set.
The failed bond is one of the two on the bridge approach, so it does not matter in the great scheme of things, IMO.

One thing of note is that the MPD will not be glued down.

I did think about screwing it down, and have nailed/tacked it down on the bridge, but the potential to split/crack the thin slabs, didn't appeal to me.

Not sure if I am just talking to myself or not, but today has seen some alpine scenic additions.

P1000846 (900 x 675).jpg

P1000848 (600 x 450).jpg

Ok maybe not quite yet....but they are on site...

P1000849 (900 x 675).jpg

I can see this looking spectacular. Going to be flat in the middle - or mildly alpine? ....= :o

A serious question, to which the only answer I can give, is I don't know, there is no plan as such, it's just going to evolve.
