Re:Eighton Bahn AKA testing testing RhB.

Looking good Gordon. Next time you're near Portsmouth can you pop in and build a wall for me?

Re:Eighton Bahn AKA testing testing RhB.

Nice weathering on the wheelbarrow in the last pic

Re:Eighton Bahn AKA testing testing RhB.

Its called rust, holes, and dents, one of which is partially rubbing on the wheel, as the axle is twisted. Its a family heirloom:rolf:

Bit more progress on the wall today, .

Now into the having to cut bits to fit, where I need them.

BTW, has anyone tried the brushing on natural yoghurt to encourage moss growth?

No, only used cow dung, and that as part of my professional career :thumbup:

We had to tone down some render repairs on a listed building. Horsley Towers, a gothic folly once owned by Tommy Sopwith :bigsmile:

Re:Eighton Bahn AKA testing testing RhB.

Wall building aside, have started a new project...

Crok sound upgrade, now for the disclaimer, this project involves little work on my part, but I appreciate the advice and effort of others.

The Crok sound chip has according to the blurb that came with it did not have all the sounds it should, so I asked the question about installing the missing sounds.

Here:-
http://www.gscalecentral.net/Adding-missing-sounds-m288612

So as a result the Crok is now rather Crok after having open heart, or should that be brain surgery, and the chip is off on its travels.

As you can see, its was not too difficult to remove,10 screws in all, excluding those holding in the chip wires.

But because I am a professional idiot, I need an aide memoire for putting all back together so,

and on the belt and braces approach as well...

Well Folks....

Its been a while since I posted anything on my line thread...Just an update on a bit of a development....

A while back our own Stockers posted a review of some Y shaped sleepers he had purchased from Modellbau Werkstatt in Germany..

http://www.gscalecentral.net/product-reviews/harz-railway-`y`-shaped-sleepers/msg277577/#msg277577

Must admit having seen the review and looked at the website, and discovered they also did a "Concrete" sleeper as well, I decided to make enquiries as to the postage costs to the U.K..

With typical German efficiency, over the course of a couple of hours, various emails, and one payment later, a parcel of 5 packs of 50 "Concrete" sleepers was on its way...

Yes works a treat, use Natural rather than one with a flavour. Sour Full Creme Milk also works well. But do not expect instant results from either. Though I did some in the Autumn and it is just beginning to show green and that was only Skimmed Milk. Better done in a shady area, but full Sun will work except it may take longer to get a good hold. Another tip is to use sand on say a Stone and keep it Damp for as long as you can, this encourages Moss quite well too. Also do not be tempted to Water with tap Water. This can kill moss, if you do want to make it nice and Green again in the Summer use Rain Water.

Another tip is to glue (water proof PVA) some moss that the birds chuck off the Roof of your House, this will stay put and spread if the conditions are right. Effectively you are putting down seed.

They look good - particularly with the contrasting rail fastenings.

Back to the sleepers:
How tight a fit are they?
How do you maintain the spacing?

The answer is yes and no, some are tight others aren't so much so.

The chairs do come off the sleeper, they are on a spigot, I have used an old 3ft length of Aristocraft removed the screws and sleepers and then threaded them on.

As I say some of the chairs are a tight fit, over the rail ends, and indeed over the underside sleeper fixing screw holes as well, (Note for the future, smooth off the underside screw holes.)

As for spacing just used the old chair witness marks and lined them up that way.
With 11 sleepers per foot you would get just 5 sleepers short of 5 ft per pack, visually I think you could get away with 10 sleepers per foot, give you the full 5Ft per pack.

Over the last few days the 3Ft length has been chucked around the house, connected to Piko, LGB and Aristo track, and generally used and abused as they say, only have to straighten a few back up, but its only one side per sleeper that slips. One thing of note, they have a short and long outside side, visually is only a few mm, but it does stand out, easily solved by turning the sleeper and re fitting to the chairs, if you are into perfection.
BTW aint run anything over them yet...

I need to get round to doing a proper review, but other matters are pressing here ATM....

Ok Three Month Update.....

More straight track purchased, another 18ft of the stuff, and for daftness I laid all the straights I have, out in the garden,
all 160 odd ft of it, just for fun, as you do, forgot you then had to pick it all up again. ???
