What happened at your workbench today?

Being confined to Barracks so to speak for so long, used the time to reappraise the outlook on what would be the best use of time and resources for my own Garden Railway endeavours.

Regrettably and unfortunately this Forum has suffered a major decline of individuals who whilst often described as Mad Scientists, or Purveyors of the Dark Arts, the innovators and tinkering types who eventually gave up posting due to the adverse comments, often rude and derogatory from one individual.

Though I have noticed quite recently an upsurge in activity on the Self Build DCC front, do hope that the two Gentlemen involved stick with it, and wish them luck with their endeavours.

Whilst he has indeed been kicked into the Long Grass, to little and to late in my own little world, the decision had already been made to dispose of, or find new homes for an assortment of electronic items.

The last remaining vestiges of items on the workbench will shortly come to end, and any future updates will be confined solely to my own endeavours in relation to the Garden Railway, should the paths cross, hopefully any information supplied will be of help to other Garden Railway operators.

Anyway without further ado, the following may be of use and provide inspiration.

While electronics is certainly not my forte, I give credit to those who can - my problem with many of your devices is knowing what one would actually use them for :emo::emo:

Now how would I like a black bock to be tucked into an engine which I can tell (actually, tell) stop at each station, wait 15 seconds and continue to the next station.
Or reverse after the third station and repeat the sequence.
Or take the siding after station 2, wait for other train to pass, then continue

Oh how easy would life been…

All quite possible with DCC, but dead rail……

I am a small step towards the future - I can ask Alexa to turn on the shed before I go outside :D

I believe you're getting confused with electronic gadgets, which are very useful, and computers which are on mission to rule the world
Indeed so, AI and now upgrades of Quantum Computing that can solve problems (eliminate person kind) in minutes, a solution that would take the best and fastest Super Computers allegedly 26-27 years. Shades of deep thought.

Whilst sorting out a recently acquired LGB loco....an ‘American’ 060 diesel, .the plastic coupling rod broke in half!

I wasn’t juggling with the loco at the time, just replacing a skate spring, and fitting a new traction tyre. In my foam cradle.

The rod has been broken before, and glued. My plastic glues don’t seem to be doing the job ( ema plastic weld or Tamiya liquid poly )

I’ve half glued it, but I know it won’t last.

Anyone got a spare.....one will do...? Possibly the same as the 060 Corpet steam loco....
