Out of the common market

That's good news from The Shed The Shed . Coincidentally I just got an email saying that an ebay item I had bought from Germany on Dec 28 has been shipped. :)

I to have packages 'in limbo'..

FedEx from the States, but the company concerned, deals with the import costs, and the carriage is 'free' if the order comes to more than 33 dollars..

Others are from 'The Far East'..

Guys, please remember that politics is not permitted. Discussion of the mechanics of what Brexit means for travel or procurement and the like is fine and welcome; and of course you can hold whatever personal views you like.

However, expressing opinions either pro or ante current political events or personalities in partisan terms is not on. Eventually it leads to slanging matches and the mods will not permit that.

Terry Pratchett's Disc World was supported on the back of 4 elephants standing on top of a tortoise
Ah, thank you - yes, I didn't venture into Terry Pratchett's world. I appreciate the creative genius, but somehow I didn't quite get there ........................

You weren't the only one!

Terry Pratchet was actually drawing on the Hindu view of the earth while other civilisations or religions also have had the earth supported on the back of a turtle but without the elephants.

Not being critical of any individual, but it's worrying how in the modern world ideas that go back hundreds or even thousands of years become credited to a famous individual. I remember some years ago someone on the internet crediting the idea of the kraken to Walt Disney when it actually goes back to at least the 13th century and possibly as far back as the old Norse sagas.

I read the first few books, but I found the humour to be too forced

That is the danger of Disney, they are very good at retelling old tales and the publicity is so good, everyone forgets the original stories.

Result....one of the two DHL packages that were previously stuck in limbo...bit more detective work required to locate the whereabouts of the one from Holland...
